Once the dust settled and Alberts gave a response about what was known, I believe he texted Earley and let him know we wanted him back in some capacity. Hence the reason Earley never changed his X profile. Once he interviewed for the job it was a no brainer.
Almost like it was supposed to work out like it did. Looking forward to great things.

it does seem like POS was "managed out" after it was proven he was going to be a problem child. I doubt we will ever really know, but if so, good play by Trev.

"dont hurt our program and dont hurt our kids". He had to have had a backup plan that was executed when POS left.

Imagine what kind of impression SchLOSS must have been giving in that meeting to provoke Trev to even have to say that…

The mark of a good athletic director is that he has a full Roledex of replacement coaches for every sport, including a short list of 4 - 5 coaches that he could call should a vacancy arise.

Seems like Trev knows this.

He had every intention of hurting our program that POS and Trev saw right through him

I'm pretty sure Trev must have qualified the assistant coaches and had a good idea Earley was open to the possibility of staying w ATM. Once he made up his mind to cut Schloss loose, he gently opened the door for him to run out. Once Schloss knew he was made, it was only a quick matter of time before he excused himself. I'm sure different scenarios were played out but ripping the bandaid off was probably worst case scenario. We saw it unfold quickly and devastatingly in a matter of 48 hour...... luckily from what I can surmise, our donor pockets have gotten deeper and they don't like to lose. That set up the NIL coffers. The best thing Trev did was listen to the players input. Earley didn't burn the ATM bridge because as soon Schloss said guys we are out of here and I'm getting y'all more money, he knew he had to follow along until the smoke cleared. I know Jace and the guys communicated w him and let him know they were pulling for him. After it all came together with the team back and additional heavy hitters signing on, it seems like it was all by design. Chess vs checkers..... at least that's the way I see it. Gigem

Ducking meetings and refusing to answer questions, then showing up late when he finally agreed to a meeting with his boss...probably had something to do with that.

I wonder how big of, and how long lasting of a hit to his reputation that other guy has taken with other coaches both college and hs over the bull**** manner he handled leaving.

I doubt we will ever know, I wonder if Earley would have agreed to come back as the hitting coach if not offered the HC or associate head coach position?

(Assuming an outside head coaching hire offered the position)

Agreed.

I got the feeling that top A&M administration may have come to see the former coach as a liability, a problem waiting to happen. Seemed they were privately glad to be rid of him.

I can't fathom how sick one must have felt watching the CWS championship games knowing that the coach was going to bolt to your most hated rival. The joy that was robbed!

At what point, should one be removed from their role and responsibilities when it's known they are going to work for a competitor?

If Earley was a target early, then this was a budget hire. I don't believe that.

POS must have sounded like an adult drowning in 3 feet of water due to the current climate in the AD, his flocked up personal life and mental emotional state.

Are people seriously running with the narrative that we cut Schloss loose? That is some of the strongest cope I could possibly imagine.

It worked out.

Big assist from Lossnagle on how he bungled his departure.

Earley was likely the 4 th guy on the list and the first 3 guys on the list when interviewed and were informed that the Ags greatly wanted to retain Earley

Also Coach Earley was the guy that TA knew he could get if the first 3 guys said no. Yes he is cheaper than some other candidates but more importantly he was the expedient hire.

The Ags needed a coach within one week of POS being gone and TA knew Earley would say yes

My general school of thought on coaching hires:

If you are not having success, hire externally
If you are having success, hire from within

I think bama with saban is an exception because he had a revolving door of assistants so there really wasn't anyone on staff "groomed" for the job

That was Kirby a while back

Schloss had to have the exact kind of aloof defiant demeanor that a coach with a done deal in-hand would have with his current boss. Haughty, arrogant and indifferent. He knew he was leaving so why waste his breath with Trev. Why would he? He already knew his next paycheck was coming from Austin.
