The Angels are a tough team to play for and $900k vs what he could earn as a first round pick next year, hopefully from a better organization, seems pretty logical. It does make a difference where you go. Ohtani and Trout have played in zero and like 3 playoff games in their entire careers. Altuve has started in 81 post season games since 2017. Glad to have our ace back.

Keep in mind that he was Valedictorian at Hillcrest High School, so I'm sure the fact that he will now be able to continue his education uninterrupted was a factor in his decision. When you think about it, the plusses far outweighed the minuses.
