Good point - my seats up 126% from 2022 still couldn't relocate to better seats.

Good problem for A&M to have.

I live waaaayy out of town and unfortunately can't make any games. But I was wondering, does the ticket office/system allow season ticket sharing? Meaning can 2 or 3 people share season seats? Seems like a simple solution if they make it easy to share. Treat each party as an owner, instead of only one person who has to manage the others. Of course, the individuals still have to divvy up the games.

Prices went up something like 15% to 20% this year and nobody blinked.
Part of that is the lock in (without using a tradable personal seat license)…you lose your place in line if you step out of line.

Why would, they waste their time on that when they pretty much sell out of season tickets

They did start offering up the smaller packages (18 game?), but I do not know how many buy them since they do not appear to be cost effective vs season tickets.

Valid point. I was thinking that if they can get more people engaged at a lesser level those same people could always move higher at some point.

Thank you. I'm sure these are also general admission seats too? I don't see how premium seats could go this path.

I see where you are coming from, but they are already selling out the available season tickets.

Thank you. It would be a demand management tracking tool to measure and go after new or potential season ticket holders, especially when considering seating capacity for stadium expansion.

It could potentially be a useful tool. Keep in mind there a ton of people who have asking to be put on a waiting list since we entered the SEC.

The main thing they need to clarify is the points are never transferable and expire on spouse death irrevocably. Otherwise they lose control over their racket.

Funny you should say that... We joined a friend with extra tickets in 110 quite a bit last year. We met the widow of a former professor that had passed, and she was quite proud of the fact she got to keep his 4 or 5 comp'd tickets and loved that she had plenty of space around her for those really crowded games.

They could charge even more if they figured out how to do it. That's the incentive. I bet they could get 1.6x the
revenue per seat.

Much talk but no specifics or renderings. "Pushing forward" with plans resembles a slow crawl.

Force fitting an expanded ballpark onto a very limited real estate footprint may be a sub-optimizing, decades long regret.

Perhaps the delay in seeing any drawings is due to the difficulties in finding a workable concept that produces a favorable solution to a difficult capacity/price/location equation?

We'll see what happens.

I do have to wonder if the solution they end up going with will just be relocate. Softball did it but I just can't think of where in that area is open enough for a big ballpark.

The rec center in left and train track behind right kills a lot of possibilities of outfield expansion

While we are still spinning our wheels about what to do with Blue Bell, MSU just announced plans to add more to the palace that is "The Dude". I get it is part of their "10 year plan" but the rate we are going the baseball arms race will be further ahead of us by then.

i think both Hop and Brauny have said the University has nixed any moving of the park. They say there isn't room anywhere or all vacant areas are spoken for with future development.

IMO move it over across from softball and next to tennis. You can build a walkway to gravel lot at Bush for parking, you have RV lot at tennis, and you still have Reed for parking.

But if we can't raise 80 million for Olsen, I don't see how we'd raise more for new stadium.

But it seems like the next step will be do player facilities first, that means staying in current location and building out into the parking lot.

I agree start with player facilities and build out into the parking lot is a completely feasible plan.

https://www.aggienetwork.com/news/145523/what-could-aandm-look-like-in-the-2030s-new-master-plan-adopted/

I can't insert an image but if you look at the image in this article you can see the land use plans from the latest campus master plan. The space they have to work with is VERY limited. Any player spaces will need to go under anything they do down the 3rd base line so I'm not sure they have the luxury of doing one and then the other. I imagine they will need to do it all at once to not make it prohibitively expensive.

Master plans can give you insight into the future, but always take them with a grain of salt. Some parts of the plan will likely come to fruition but many won't. You can't get too caught up in this is the way it will be done because it is on the current master plan.

There is land to build additional player facilities around its current location separately from the stadium (but would lose some parking), land to move the Olsen grandstand South and build an entirely new stadium mostly on the old spot but with more space in the outfield, and land to build a new baseball stadium somewhere else on campus.

It is just a matter of how much money we can raise and what those in power want to do. But, land is something we have more than just about any other university.

I am pretty skeptical that we would ever get a new volleyball facility South of Olsen like on that plan.

master plans are dreams. some come true, some never do.

We'd have to win four or five titles in football I think before they'd be money for volleyball only arena. And I still don't think anyone would donate for that.

And based on that map, they could be Olsen over by softball. Intermural fields can be moved.

But again, they're not moving it.
NewOldAg

Fair points, but I think we come to the same conclusion. The details may change but that plan reveals a lot about the thought process around development. If the proposed location of a new volleyball facility would be squeezed in between Olsen and George Bush, that gives you an strong indication that there's no appetite to allocate any land to athletics that it doesn't already occupy.

My best guess is they have a plan for what they can do with the existing footprint. I bet the department is under a de facto capital spending freeze pending clarity on player pay rules and the NCAA lawsuit settlement. Now that the football indoor is done, I'm not aware of any projects that are in progress or pending but I could be wrong.

Why not just update what you already have in place? Have seating all the way down the left and right field lines (not temporary bleachers that look horrible). On the home side, put a player development facility with seating and walkway on the outside to see in and watch the players hitting off tee, warming up between innings. Put the bullpen in the alley behind left field. Create long and low bleachers all in the outfield to not take away from the train tracks but still provide the full field surrounded with Aggies. Then upgrade your scoreboard, pressbox, current seating, etc. to new top of the line materials. Why are we making it so hard?

First base line is in sunshine until sun drops behind third base part of stadium.

The stadium itself is on a boxed in footprint that was always there in right field but made worse with the rec center..

Who said Aggie jokes don't write themselves???

Another consideration is a lot of fans don't really appreciate the majority of funding for the coach is directly from either ticket revenue (which many would prefer to buy as hoc on secondary market only if we are winnng.)

The only option that provides nearly free ticket is lots of charity. But what if instead the fans that gripe the most were taxed extra to pay for everything?

Texas A&M Regents to vote on making new baseball player development center its own project

ALEX MILLER alex.miller@theeagle.com
The Texas A&M Board of Regents are slated to vote Thursday on making a new baseball player development center at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park its own $28.3 million project with a Fiscal Year 2025 start date.

To do so at their quarterly meeting, regents would have to amend the A&M System's FY 2025-29 Capital Plan to include the project. The A&M System's FY 2025-29 Capital Plan already includes $80 million for an Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park renovation project with a start date of FY 2026.

Regents also will vote to appropriate $2.83 million for pre-construction services. The estimated annual debt service is $5.77 million and the funding source is donations.

Regents approved $60 million for an Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park renovation project in November 2022. Last May, they approved expanding the project to $80 million with the new FY 2026 start.

A&M officials have now requested the new player development center to become its own project. Officials added that the planning amount for the Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park renovation project will be adjusted to match revised programming estimates in the A&M System's FY 2026-30 Capital Plan.

The baseball player development center project will be discussed during the board's committee on buildings and physical plant meeting and during open session on Thursday afternoon at the Memorial Student Center's Bethancourt Ballroom.

The proposed project would include new batting cages, a pitching lab, sports medicine facilities, strength and conditioning spaces, team meeting rooms, a home clubhouse and new player locker rooms. The project would also replace the current field lighting and playing field.

The scope of the initial project proposed in November 2022 included premium seating renovations including the current club concourses, restrooms, additional reserved seating, and additional food service areas. The agenda noted the current scoreboard, located behind the left-field fence, might be relocated and the current fire lane would need an update to accommodate an increased stadium footprint.

Former A&M athletic director Ross Bjork told the Regents' Committee on Buildings and Physical Plant in November 2022 that renovations to Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park would probably take at least two years to complete.

"We will have to break this project up over several offseasons due to the fact that we will not move out of the complex," Bjork said in November 2022.

Regents are also slated to discuss legal issues relating to the House v. NCAA antitrust case, and college athlete name, image, likeness litigation during executive session Thursday morning.

I wonder if they are still planning on the Player Development Stuff to move to the 1B line? That's what the previous coach told me when we discussed it last spring.

I'm watching Ken Burns baseball documentary and I'm watching the 1930's portion talking about Hank Greenberg and I remember at one point the discussion of making Olsen more like old Tiger Stadium in a box manner with the second row almost directly on top of the first row.
