HEY NOW! THAT MAY BE MY NEXT HOME STATE! DON'T YOU PUT THAT EVIL ON US!

Why the hell would you move to ND?

I don't know the answer but most of them are in Arizona this time of year. I'm ready for them to go home.

I can't imagine Sean as a snowbird

For us, the Air Force told my dad, "you're going to Grand Forks AFB". So we did.

Hockey on a backyard rink and snowmobiles were fun. Waiting for the bus at 15 to 20 below, not so much. You learn to get out of the wind.

I knew some guys that got sent to Minot. Grand Forks is way better. Honestly, I don't even consider Grand Forks and Fargo part of ND. They might as well be Minnesota.
It's definitely better than Minot, but I wouldn't call it Minnesota. It's completely flat and the only trees are wind breaks.

I think we got more weather days for the Red River flooding than we did for snow.

How do you not consider it Minnesota? Literally half the city (East Grand Forks) is in Minnesota.

They love talking about how great their weather is and how bad it is in Texas. My neighborhood is from East Grand Forks and when he found out I'm from Texas he told me the coldest place he's ever been was Weslaco, Texas. I pulled up my weather app and asked him if it was colder than it was in East Grand Forks right then. It was-26 with 30 MPH winds.

I will die on this hill. 20 degrees in BCS is far worse than 0 in Montana/north dakota. Anything under -10 feels the same and it all hurts equally. I will never miss my eye balls hurting or feeling snot freeze in my nose.

I went to Schroeder as well.. my math may be off, but I was probably in 7th when you were in 9th. I'm sure we know some people in common. My mom taught at RR

Having just gotten back from Saskatoon where I went 17 days where it was above freezing for a grand total of 6 hours and the coldest I saw was -31*F, I 100% agree with you.

Down here it's a damp humid cold. 10* up there is a pair of jeans, long sleeves, and a light jacket or hoodie.

I've lived in Wyoming for 19 years. And the coldest I've ever been in my life was when I was in high school, goose hunting in Eagle Lake Texas.

Now one morning last week it was 18 below, blowing snow and I had to spend the morning clearing snow. But I was dressed for it.

I spent 6 months in Thunder Bay Ontario....right above Lake Superior. There were snow storms that you couldn't see 10 feet in front of yourself weekly....ughhhhhh. I did learn how to watch and love hockey the right way, so there is that.

There are plenty of places where it is legit wet cold too. My friends that live at 9000+ feet in Colorado damn near die when they come hunt with us on NE Kansas most years.

Hell, I almost die the first weekend it's in the 30s. Then by this time of year my body has adjusted and I'm shoveling snow in shorts.

This. I grew up in South Texas so I know hot. Now live in Minnesota. A zero degree day here which is typically very dry (even though a foot of snow on the ground) and no wind, and sunshine is amazing. Doesn't feel cold. 20-30 day in Texas usually means damp and windy and 100x more miserable.

It's that wet cold that seeps into your bones and you feel like you will never be warm again that is the worst.

I'm in Denver for the next hour ( had to stop at Buc-ees) or so and it this 11 degrees doesn't feel nearly as cold as I imagine Olsen is right now.

My daughter has lived in Bismarck for a couple of decades. We go up several times a year. It's cold as hell and the wind blows your skin off your face, but it definitely has it's charms.

Should we get back to the loser Horn coach?

So, we moved to Grand Forks, ND in 1972 (my Dad and Brother still live there). I routinely experienced -30 degree weather and a Blizzard once sent the thermometer down to -52 with a wind chill approaching -100. I still say the coldest day I ever spent was 4 degrees in B/CS. You can block the wind with layers, but that cold humidity always finds a way to creep in.

Edit to say - that ******bag coach over in ATX isn't worth discussing.

Yeah no kidding! I started this thread and didn't think it would generate much response, which is fine. Came on here now to see what all was being talked about from the weekend and noticed 50+ responses, thinking, 'wow!' Then I clicked on it on to see a bountiful discussion on ND!

4 years in Minot for me, never been so damn cold in my life. Quite the culture shock for a Houston kid who had seen snow like 4 or 5 times in my life til that point. I was actually pretty shocked how humid it would get in the summers. Certainly not like back home but it's no Colorado or AZ. Would snow at the end of Oct and wouldn't see the ground again til April or may. Sure the shooting and going out on the boat at metigoshe and the state fair in the summers were good times but certainly didn't make up for the winters. Don't ever plan on stepping foot in the state again.

The best thing about this thread.

While I hope sippie has an awful first season under POS, I rather not see another dedicated thread about either of them on TexAgs until we make our way to Austin in late April.

I get what he's saying. The cold he's talking about in the RGV is that 33-35 degrees, pissing rain with a 25 mile north wind. It's bitter. I'd take 0 and a blizzard all day over that *****

To keep it thread related, F tu. :-)
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

How often is it 25 degrees and drizzling in Weslaco? It was 78 degrees here today and I went to have a beer with this guy this afternoon. I asked him how hot it was back home today and he said minus 29 degrees. They're full of crap. If it was so sneaky warm in North Dakota in the winter they wouldn't be here in Arizona now.

And Fcck Texas and their coach.
Histaghusband09
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
No one said it was sneaky warm- just that the dry cold up north is 100 times better than the humid cold down here. So much so that -10 up north is preferable to 20 degrees in much of Texas.
