Roster total is at or slightly above $2million I believe. I dont have individual numbers, but that is the number that has been floated around a couple times on here.
Yiute treating a rumor with zero substantiation because the contracts are only visible to the school and beyond certainty are subject to non-disclosure agreements.

Stop making the claim unless you have seen the numbers. It's just dumb to do so.
If you read my whole post, I said that is the number floated around on this website. No where did I say it is the gospel truth. But go on ahead and beat your chest and insult others.

I still think this is a huge big fat nothingburger.

Outside of some local media (who aren't banging on the door after a loss), college baseball doesn't have a bunch of beat reporters needing to fill their articles with canned quotes in order to make the morning print run.

There are less than a handful of national media sites/publications that handle college baseball and the legacy print, even in state (Chronicle, Statesman, etc) have never given one single iota of care about the sport prior to mid-May....and even then the article is so short it couldn't even contain an actual quote.

When did anyone ever give two ****s about this type of stuff

other than when a mass of juveniles frothing about **** (or whatever condescending moniker they think witty) was able to assemble on places like the rant?

It's pathetic behavior. You're hobby as an adult, presumably with a job and family, is sitting your fat, balding ass in front of a computer decrying the harmless activity of a university's athletic program.

Get a life.

Because sports "journalists" think they are as important to the game as players and coaches. They believe that it is their God given right to be given access to whatever and whenever they want. They don't realize that most of them are hacks that nobody needs or cares about. The internet has made an over abundance of these self righteous ricks with a P. That's why I love to see ESPN, the DMN, etc. fire and layoff as many as they can.

Khan is a tool, but hey, if he explains to premium, all good and why those who pay will succumb.

So why did he make a big deal about it? What's the motive? Those in-depth quotes or where a journalist can spin the story off a 'phrase'. What's so important for his lack of journalistic integrity? He'll put this as a feather in his cap of how he fought for journalistic freedom to hear from players. What an idiot.

More ticked that A&M caved vs. stupid post...so external journalists run the program. It should be up to coach if any speaks regardless of the outcome.

Sam Khan is not a tool, you are pissy that he caused embarrassment to the precious university. He does a great job.

There is additional spotlight on a team that was in the championship last year, with all the coaching/portal drama, and such lofty expectations this year. We can expect more national storylines as people WANT to cover our team like never before

There was nothing embarrassing about this at all.

Sure there is.

It's a recurring theme that our department is harder to cover than most others. Nothing wrong with saying that's true. And per usual, our AD decided to announce it will be harder to cover our team.

But Sam Khan pissed you off 15 years ago.

Keep stalking players trucks after losses though.

I don't find it embarrassing at all to be more difficult than others. I guess that's a you thing.

He never pissed me off. He used to be real click baity and tried to be sensationalistic to make a name for himself. It's got old. No reason to give him eyeballs now.

The rest, personal attacks are real cute.

We get it- you don't care about the media perception of our entire athletic department across the national landscape as long as you can still post about which players you met in the parking lot after a loss.

I think our media perception for baseball is pretty good considering all the national media is picking us to win it all or as the favorite to win it all. Who cares what the Houston chronicle or Dallas Morning news thinks as they have always been bias against us (half of their writers are sips, frogs or cougars anyways)

Most of us only care if we win or not and if the players are good reps in the community. Which they are on both fronts.

But I get the frustration about player availability… it's odd given the current NIL climate but I also think it's not make or break in terms of national perception.

That's a good point....if the media continually disrespects year after year after year, there is probably less of a desire to bend over backwards for them

It always seems like the chronicle and DMN have had it out for anything A&M does. Especially during the Jimbo tenure

Providing the same level of access that almost every school in the country gives is NOT "bending over backwards".

Some of you people are so dramatic.

Was Jimbo incredibly hard to cover? YES.

I'm old enough to remember when Sumlin pissed the local media off by giving the national folks special access.

There's a game to play if you want to be covered positively, and we don't play it.

True. Also I think they got mad after they'd hype us up every year in football from 2014-2016 and we'd collapse. After that they refused to give us any credit it seemed.

I think there's a happy medium with player availability. I personally would rather hear the coaches give post game for both wins and losses. Save players for like "series preview" press conferences

Almost every other school has a spring game for football. Give tu just announced they won't have one, the Dallas and Houston media and writing articles complaining about not have the same level of access that almost every school in the country gives.
