My father in law passed away Friday, February 21st. He was Gerald "Jerry" Nelson who helped win the 1955 SWC Championship. Here is the obituary. He is the reason my wife and I met at A&M and was a heck of a ball player. There used to be some amazing memorabilia of him in the 12th Man Museum before the Kyle Field remodel. #GigEm https://broussards1889.com/obituary/gerald-joseph-jerry-nelson-sr/

I am so sorry to hear of his passing. His obituary shows that he lived a full, long life and was deeply loved. You can't ask for much more than that. You know what really got me? "He deeply loved his dachshund, Barney." Man oh man ....

Blessings and prayers to you and your family, Vin 1041, and to Barney, too.

I am so sorry to hear this news!

My father played on the '55 team with your father-in-law. I am pretty sure I met him at some of the past reunions. And, I had certainly heard how he was a lynchpin piece on that pitching staff and winning the SWC championship. I would love to connect with you at some point and exchange stories. I have a lot of memorabilia from that team and plenty of stories that have been passed down.

My Dad, Guy Wallace '51, probably coached your father-in-law as he coached '52 and '53 while completing his degree.

My dad was stationed at Tinker AFB in OKC from 63-66. I know we went to at least one Oklahoma 89ers game during that time frame. Your father in law's bio says his last year in the minors was at OKC in 64, So I could have seen him play. I was only 3 at the time though
