The only other coach that had a chance was Vitello but he turned us down. We came close but ultimately, he wanted to stay.
Did we really have a chance? Serious question? Hard for me to believe that he would leave a program he rebuilt from the ground up right after winning a Natty. Keep in mind UT was a cellar dweller of the SEC for over a decade. I remember it was a huge deal that the Vols made the SEC tournament his second season in Knoxville much less got a regional invite.

Last 2? 2023 was not great and last year was an anomaly. And last year, despite being a great team, we still didn't win.

It's baseball.

Terrible bounces tonight and we aren't mashing like last year to overcome it.

Just gotta survive this funk.

You forgot our runs were b/c they messed up a pop fly foul ball.

Yes, we had a legitimate chance.

This team is tough to watch right now. But I firmly believe they will eventually snap out of it and we will be good.

We made it to CWS semis in 2022 and finals in 2024. I know very few who were disappointed by those seasons.

I see you're an either/or person and can't accept anything in between. In your mind, there are no good coaches who also have a good personal relationship with their players. It's a false premise, but what a perfect microcosm of our fan base. You have to either be a banger or a pumper, there's no room for rational thought and discussion. For that reason, I'll be done engaging - you absolutely win.

Wouldn't be an Aggie sports team if they didn't bitterly disappoint us

Basketball gameday will put us on national TV tomorrow. Game starts at 8:30. We will probably beat Florida.

They hit 3 straight grounders that went their way.

The dropped foul was because they were shifted, so I don't count that.

They need to remember how to have fun playing the game they love. You can tell by body language and the dugout vibe that they need to remember why they love playing the game.

And is that not telling about what it means to be an Aggie? The fact that the majority were satisfied with ALMOST getting to the top?

Who said anything about being satisfied?

How you react to a baseball season has nothing to do with what it means to be an Aggie. To me, being an Aggie is a much bigger than reactions to sports.

I know what you can do... boycott and ***** more.

That'll prove to the AD that you want to win. If only every Aggie got mad and cared as much as you.

Our struggles are definitely former students' and fans' fault.

Didn't realize that acknowledging the disappointment that is Aggie sports would be so controversial. Like living in denial is somehow a prerequisite to being a fan

Correct.

So the posters complaining about Earley still haven't answered your question about who they would have hired.

These games are always so foolish. It's not the job of the fan base to know and/or choose the coach. The AD chose Earley. We know he had a huge push from players and families who were currently part of the program. Great. I wish him the best. At that point I have to trust Alberts will make the best decision for the program, then hold the coach he hires accountable.

I'm not out on Earley. But I'm not in either. There hasn't been a game yet has shown anything close to an elite team. That's OK, but not for too much longer.

Well, you did use the word "disappointed." And I guess the only way you could be disappointed with those seasons is if your expectations were below those results right?

OK, I did not get that impression at the time. Glad we tried. I still believe it would have been difficult to get one of the more established named coaches. Off the top of my head I can't really think of an up and comer that has had enough excellent success that isn't firmly established that we might have poached. Would Bama's Vaughn been a big enough hire? The Tide hired him from Maryland after he had two really strong regular seasons but that was against B1G completion and followed by quick exits from the NCAAs. Just spitballing here since at least a few here now believe the Earley hire was a mistake.

Tomorrow is another day

There's no reason to lose your damn minds over a few losses. We can all see there are issues but some of y'all don't stick with facts. There's no reason to malign anyone's character or work ethic.
And I'm doing neither. Just wondering WTF is missing with this team. It can't be locker room chemistry. To a man they supported Earley and each other ever since POS bailed on us. I can't imagine every talent evaluator that had us damn near a unanimous #1 just whiffed THAT badly. Where's the disconnect?

I had to miss tonight (thank God, I'd have needed a barf bag) but I'll be there tomorrow and Sunday. Maybe it's me. Only game I've been able to make this year was the 12 run "explosion" against Elon. Maybe I've got the karma lol……..which would be 100% out of the ordinary

I know better to say "it can't get any worse" bc it clearly can. But hopefully we hit the bottom of the barrel tonight. It's about the only barrel we've found lately.

This is the problem with Aggie athletics, its literally just pure hope that eventually it will manifest ina championship, but it will never happen

I did not know that enjoying a fantastic season that fell one game short despite losing one of the best players in college ball and what was probably your best pitcher down the stretch in the Supers means we are satisfied. I know for certain I want a baseball Natty more than 99.9% of the folks that are weeping, wailing and gnashing their teeth tonight. I also know me fretting over it is not going to reverse that Aggies fortunes this season.. If Aggie fans bemoaning whatever they think causes us from winning it all in a sport that they care about accomplished such, we would be piling up tropheys left and right.

Okay what needs to be done then that we are not already doing? We were able to hire one of the biggest names in college football and he crashed and burned. We hired one of the best coaches in college baseball who produced three very enjoyable seasons but despite his ability to build and manage a team he turned out to be a POS who thought nothing about what was best for him. What now?

This is bad. We're a stones throw away from losing any momentum gained from the last 3 years.
