Hiring Earley was a huge mistake

A prime example of why you don't hire coaches based on who is popular with the players.

Makes you wonder what the leaders at A&M are doing. We need a clean slate. Obviously these generals with no experience running a university are not working out and are not able to elevate A&M academically or athletically. They appear to make poor hires and decisions. A&M is not military branch nor a political branch. It's a results oriented group in which you need to achieve.

Need either business people or professional academic administrators to come on and then make the hires based on their backgrounds and ability to elevate A&M to secure our investments.

It's always the same story: spend a ton of money, get new facilities but most of the time they make poor hires / decisions (sometimes they nickel and dime people at the end for key roles) at the most critical aspects so you end up underachieving annually.

Need to take the Warren Buffet approach - fire all the bad leaders and hire goods and things will turn around. Got to start at the top.

Yet Albert's literally got us a massive media rights deal, the largest ever in college sports history. Yet, our leadership is the problem…

Yet, we have only won ONE major men's national championship in the entire history of this university and it was almost 80 years ago. So, yes… we have a leadership problem. Who cares about all the money we have if we can't win jack squa
So you'd fire Trev Alberts???? I mean I do not doubt that there are issues within the athletic department. Hell, Looch mentioned outing one yesterday on the Ask Liucci segment. But Trev just got here. So far, he's done mostly good things.

How did track leap frog baseball as a priority They could win 39 straight natties and I wouldn't care and they got everything they wanted and quicker than baseball.

Track got a new indoor because football wanted the space.
Yep, football is king. Florida got its new baseball park because football wanted the space the old one sat on. It certainly wasn't due to Sully demanding a new one.

Aggies will be lamenting not giving Schloss a stadium renovation, that he was promised, for years to come.

It was never about this.

Keep telling yourself that.

The texas coach was gonna leave the first chance he got.

Once he ran thru the wife swapping community in BCS he started looking for greener pastures.

A&M reneged on their promise of a baseball palace to Schloss. He would still be here had the dumbasses in charge kept their promise.

When exactly did we reneg?

Was it in April 2024?

Exactly what I said. He was promised a baseball palace.

So when did we tell the texas coach "sorry, we're not building you a new stadium?"

Where is it? Schloss was here for 3 years and nothing ever happened. I bet he gets a new stadium at sip before bluebell gets renovated. I bet bluebell only gets renovated in response to them getting renovated. Thats how A&M works. They only react to the sips.
It's happening. It's been announced. More than $80 million has been promised. The players facilities will be done first, as it's the biggest area of need.

I said this last year and got chastised by most on here. Earley had proven nothing at the point of being hired. Yea the players liked him, but that doesn't mean he knows how to win.

That being said, had he not been hired, most of the studs would have probably left. I surely hope he figures it out and quickly. He does seem like a great guy, but not sure about his head coaching ability yet.

It's going to be very interesting to see who stays with Earley next year. Grahovac pretty much now has to play another year of college ball. If performances don't improve fairly soon, some of these guys (Prager being an exception) are going to see their draft stock plummet. Guys like LaViollete have millions of dollars riding on having a good season.

I just don't understand how we forgot to hit the ball with the same players and same hitting coach wearing Maroon. We should be scoring double digit runs on these no name teams

Farnsworth is a troll and responds to no one that challenges him, easy ignore. I would bet a lot he didn't follow baseball until last year either.

This is a fair opinion to have. The others claiming in hindsight it was a terrible idea from the jump (while not even trying to delete their comments back in early July complaining about the potential to not hire him) would be the same ones saying we're an unserious program because we let our AAs walk if we hired someone else.

No, we didn't let them pick the coach. They got him the interview.
Was Early the best available coach? The decision to hire him was made under pressure and with emotion more than logic. Had our former coach gone to any other university, would we have hired Early? Last year's success gave us leverage which we may not have in a few years. Did we maximize that leverage?

He's not the only one we interviewed. He is the only one we felt confident could keep this team together.

Sorry, if I struck a nerve but just calling as I and I believe most others do at this time. The coaches and majority of players are getting paid way too much to just go thru the motions. This appears to be just another way overrated A&M team or worse they aren't but are just wilting under pressure. Either one is not good.

And he left. Mike Early was someone we could rally around and try to keep team intact. And he did, but we did not know that we were going to lose Sdao, Sorrell, Ashenbeck, Stewart and Grahovac for parts or all of this season. That is a lot of talent not playing.

The rest are trying to live up to the #1 rank and are pressing way too hard. I saw signs of life in the 9th yesterday. We need to swing at the strikes even if first pitch and good things will happen.
