uh no, this team was going to be horrible without him. Unless someone else was going to be able to hold it together, which basically all the top players asked for Earley. Without Earley there was going to be a complete roster turnover, meaning we would have been pretty bad.

If we would have spent more on a coach, would wouldn't have our insane NIL budget for players this season. We blew out the NIL budget this year to make Earley an immediate winner.

Serving size is small but you can't argue that with the best roster in college baseball we have greatly underachieved so far.

For people who watched the team I the fall scrimmages, did they look this out of sorts? It's embarrassing how many incredibly stupid and sloppy plays and decisions happen each game.

But it's gonna happen eventually.
That was the flip card with Earley… do we hire an unproven coach to keep this roster together . Rosters come and go… so if Earley tanks and this team underachieves where does that leave the program 2-3 years down the road?
Not in good shape is the answer.

But Earley "hit it out of the park" with his interview and totally won the AD over. So ridiculous. Wish Vitello would have said yes.

And for Earley, the only thing he has going for him is it's early. But not for too much longer. Figure it the **** out. This isn't a friend club. Demand excellence and put them in position to achieve it.

now we let a bunch of 19-22 yr olds pick a hire for us so as not to lose them to tu.

It was a calculated risk. IMO, anything less than a big time hire would have meant most of the talent that produced the hype would have gone elsewhere and I doubt we could have pulled that off in a timely enough manner in which we would not have lost much of it anyways.

Damn, y'all are some miserable ass people! If you didn't think there wouldn't be growing pains with a first time head coach, y'all are delusional. Earley and this team will be ok, but for sure this is a rough stretch.

I disagree. 2022 started out rough, but there were at least signs of life. This team looks like a bunch of dead fish out there.

Not sure about that. Sitting there in Frisco, a lot of us truly thought it would be a rebuild.

Now it's interesting that that same team never was more than shaky in the pen. We sort of mashed our way to Omaha.

The bullpen is what scares me the most. The bats will turn around. Luckily this team won't be #1 Monday, even if they win out this weekend, so that albatross will be gone. That can maybe start this team playing looser and not trying to live up to the hype. Also, THOS team isn't the one that was ranked #1. With Gavin out for the season, Sorrell and Stewart out indefinitely, this is very much a different team now.

The only signs of life on this team are the weekend starters and Henseler. Again. It's not just the outcome, it's that we are fundamentally bad across the board. Fielding, base running, just having good at bats, relievers throwing strikes, and Earley's decision making. Not only that, the returning guys that were supposed to lead the team in hitting (and vouched for Earley the loudest) look like they couldn't hit high school pitching right now. What's worse? We aren't even playing good teams and we look this bad. The team looks incredibly poorly coached with zero leadership in the dugout or on the diamond.
