We need Kash at 1st and Sorrell and TK2 in the corner outfield positions. Just sayin

We can't keep making 4 errors per game and you MUST start with an adequate 1st baseman

If Sorrell does return is the question

Ryan was asked that recently and acted like it wasn't going to happen. I don't see how you could do any different. You can't be any worse than what we've been running out there.

One player isn't going to make the difference on this team.

It will help a lot if he hits, because outfield d will improve and you can potentially move someone who isn't hitting (and possibly fielding) out of the lineup.

Kash is looking better. McCoy was encouraging. That's the silver lining tonight.

Move Kash to 1B now, no need to wait until Sorrell returns (if he ever does). Rotate various outfielders in LF.

1B has been a disaster and Earley needs to do something now. He will lose me if he doesn't.

Farr needs to sit he's booted balls and strikes out half his AB's.

Gavin Kash was guilty of two in left field, including an Aaron Judge-esque drop. Matthew Bergevin was guilty of one, and arguably another, at first base. Wyatt Henseler was charged with an error on a tough play in the second, while second baseman Sawyer Farr booted a routine roller in the sixth.

Kash made two errors in LF. What makes you think he will not make errors at first base?

1B is his natural position that he played before coming here and he had a pretty good fielding %. Earley has to try something else at 1B.

Here's the thing with Kash…let's say he's as good of a 1B as the two current 1B's and a better hitter. By moving him to 1B you instantly upgrade your outfield without hurting your infield. That's why you move him.

Secondly, I am projecting that his hitting will come around because his last few at bats look a lot better. So, you also upgrade your lineup. The other option is to put him at DH.

As for Farr, he's had 1 error and is fielding at 952 (not good)…not sure the 12th man website is updated for last night, though. I do think he comes around but he looks natural. If he doesn't get it done, you put in Jamal.

Because he's a 1st baseman and not a left fielder.

Agree 100%. You upgrade defensively moving Kash to 1B and out of left field (a two for one upgrade). Put your best defensive outfielder in LF. This may be a freshman but you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm in favor of keeping Farr at 2B. Who else are you going to put there?

Kash is playing in the outfield because Binderup and Bergevin can't. It's not because he's the worst first baseman of the three. We've got him playing out of position because we've got too many guys who are essentially DH's without a position.

Jamal or Royo could play second.

Possibly but not sure they would be much better. But I'd have no problem if Earley gave either a shot. He needs to start shaking things up. But he has to start with 1B.

I wouldn't make the move yet. I think Farr will be fine. He's a high potential Freshman and probably still adjusting. If the other guys around him were fielding better, you wouldn't even care about a miscue or two from him.

I don't think we are getting the full story on Sorrell. This seems like a long time for a hamstring pull. Maybe he tore it.

He played in the scrimmage - just batted, didn't play in the field. He was jogging 50-75% when running the bases. So no telling what's going on. Have any media asked Earley what the deal is?

I wasn't at the scrimmage so I can't speak to how he looked but it's very strange they felt comfortable enough to let him swing and jog around a month ago and now a month later there's no real tangible update on his availability.

With how Schott has been hitting why not give him a night off and let Sorrell DH if he's able to? If he's not able to DH now due to his hammy he shouldn't have been allowed to play in the scrimmage IMO unless there was a setback.

Can one of you more knowledgeable posters do two lineups for some of us that don't follow as closely? This is with Sorrell returning.

A lineup with the best defense we could put out there regardless of offensive production.

A lineup with the best offense we could put out there regardless of defensive capabilities.

Side note- I really wanted to put irregardless but I was hoping for serious responses and didn't want to upset anyone. Lol

It's probably the same lineup. Maybe DH could be different. Maybe 2b.

Kash, Kent, henseler, keil, Jace, sorrell, Galloway are definitely in the offensive lineup and I am pretty sure defensive lineup. I think Farr is probably your guy in both lineups especially at the end of the season.

I still believe Schott is your best overall DH based his history.

Yea…he needs a new schtick, and needs to do so quickly.
