They have to do something and do something fast… Pierce would be a good hire. So would Matt Deggs. I'd also throw a flyer at Childress to see if he's interested.

They have a beautiful ballpark, are in a city with insane baseball talent, they have the private school funding… but every bad year that passes is another year their brand goes down further and further.

Deggs would be crazy to leave ULL for Rice. Probably a step down for Childress, and Pierce could probably get a better job too. I could be wrong, but from an outside perspective it looks like administration has no interest in the athletic department. I'm not sure how they can compete in this era of college sports and they'd probably be better suited dropping down in division.

The reason I brought up Pierce is that he was seen as the heir apparent to Graham for years however by the time Uncle Wayne left Pierce already had two seasons under his belt in Austin.
