I am officially confident Michael Earley does not know what he's doing as HC of our baseball team.

This may be a VERY long spring for our baseball program, Ags.

I sure hope not and will keep rooting for them as a whole, but I'm just not confident in this team right now…and haven't been.

So was punch hitting your best offensive catcher for Harrison.

I get PH there if you don't like the match up, but damn use Binderup or Beregevin before Harrison.

That move was absolutely mind boggling.

I'm in favor of coaching, because so far this team has looked completely unprepared. No doubt Bama was the better team tonight and even with the injuries the Aggies are a lot more talented on paper. Earley needs to seriously consider taking over with the hitters and fix whatever Longley changed. I don't want to hear how it is the same approach because we all know that is bull***** The results are nothing like last year and very similar to what Longley produced in Austin.

Earley should of had an u.pire visit on the balk. Camera panned on him after they sent the runners back and he was an image of indecision.

Why not just direct steal with Farr? Why hit and run? Why not give more effort arguing with the ump on runner interference..Your trying to get the next 50/50call Earley.

Why Bear Harrison. There are some other guys that can PH does not have to be a catcher for a catcher. I think Bear just got his first hit this week.

Why pull Luke when he looked so good. Even Boomer on the telecast was what is he doing?

Why go match up in the 9th. Score is tied. If you don't win in the 9th who you going too.

Over coaching and trying to show your importance cost a struggling team that could of gotten back on track.

I've never been out on a coach after year one…but man…if this is what you field with this much talent, we may need to move on quickly.

it's not after year one, it's after game 17. You have ~36 more games until you can say "after year one"

Tonight they were playing the L/R matchup too much in the 9th and it cost them .. big time.
It's moves like that when they work you look like a genius but when they don't work .. well all you have to do is look at reaction on this board.
I think it's over coaching honestly.. look Earley knows baseball so we can eliminate the " he doesn't know what he is doing " talk.
Now the jury is still out on him as a head coach and yeah it's not looking good .

But honestly I feel bad for Earley, the people who hired him should be on the hot seat. They are the ones who hired an unproven head coach.

Texas A&M baseball is not a national program, we have flirted with being a national power and coming off last season had we had the season we were expecting .. now you're in the national mix.
We just set our program back 2-3 years because we hired a coach the players wanted and did not do our due diligence and hire the best for the job.

That's the inexcusable part of all this.

Pretty sure he is saying if things continue like they are and we don't make the post season then he is on board with firing a coach after year 1 but most of the time he is not

Earley is overthinking and outcoached himself tonight and took away oppty to win. Playing the numbers game and saving pitching bs playing to win. Admittingly Prager didn't have his best stuff and giving up 4 runs on 2 HRs after walks loses games too.

This team has too many individual stars and missing the it factor (and not having Grahvoc nor Sorrell and some pitching has hurt).

Think there's a danger of sliding down and this team will struggle to be .500 (lack hitting, lack relief pitching depth as staff lacks trust)

So far Earley is showing that he's in over his head. Great coaches rise to the occasion. Time will tell but his short body of work is clearly unimpressive.

A&M has put itself at a huge disadvantage by having a rookie manager go up against the likes of Vitello, Van Horn, Corbin, Schloss, et al

Sadly, he does appear to be way, way, way in over his head. Maybe he'll come around, but thus far every situation seems too big for him.

Interesting stat thrown out on SECU. A&M is 16th best offense in the SEC. Seriously, Mizzou is fielding one of the worst teams in their schools mediocre baseball history and their offense is better than what the Aggies are rolling out. The lack of offense is just inexplicable. Either Longley is a real problem or Earley was just lucky the last three years.

Our hitting is atrocious
The swing path's are incredibly bad.
There is no adjustments and no approach
Same chitty swing after chitty swing.
And we wonder why we strikeout and pop up so much.
How many elevated foul balls do you have to hit before an adjustment is made ???

What concerns me most about our poor offense is that our schedule has been cupcake easy so far. When most teams were padding their stats against teams like Elon, Cal-Poly, UTSA, New Mexico State, and Texas State, we were struggling to produce.

And don't give me this "bad weather" or "wind blowing in" garbage. Every team deals with bad weather in February and March. Besides, those towering pop ups and weak strike outs would have still been pop ups and Ks even in perfect weather.

Coaches rely too much on the computer to tell them what to do instead of baseball instinct. Why pull your pitcher in the ninth inning with 2 down & has only thrown 6 pitches.

What in the first 17 games makes you think the next 36 will go ANY better, against much steeper competition? Please tell us.

I see the team fighting. They need to keep doing that.

Bama had more flyball outs by a wide margin (and some K's) than contact hits (singles, doubles) etc. They had 4 homers and two were after free passes.

and, respectfully, two of those 4 baggers were after an egregious pitching change, or maybe two egregious pitching changes..

To emphasize your second point, if he gives more effort in arguing the interference call and gets tossed....we stand a better chance of winning the game.

Mike definitely over coached this game. Started with Harrison for Galloway. Rightly/lefty matchups hold advantages when things are equal, 2 and 16 are not equal hitters. Luke Jackson was dealing and punched out the last hitter with a real good 98mph fastball, he was pissed when he got taken out. I didnt like it but Wilson has good stuff and left on left was fine. He gets a punch out and Mike yanks him? I guess if Mariano Rivera was available it would have been ok, but you cannot put Rudis in there. You are basically saying he is our closer at that point? I didn't like it. I also noticed Earley would defer to Kelley way to much and kept looking at him before making a decision.

What's worse? Childress leaving a pitcher in one batter too many or Earley yanking them too soon?

also using 3 pitchers in the 9th inning of a tie game

maybe 3 pitchers if the Ags had the lead

but what was the plan for the 10th?

Oh, I agree. I wouldn't have pulled Jackson until he gave up a base runner. He was cruising. I guarantee you Earley is thinking about that late into the night.

I just wanted to point out there were a ton of fly ball outs for Alabama.

I'm trying to follow Earley's logic that Rudis was the best chance to not give up a HR. Rudis has been giving up HRs a ton since he's been here. He's got to be on a super hot streak to be considered trustworthy in a high leverage situation like that.
