I was wondering... what if Earley assumed hitting again, and Jason Kelly did HC/pitching (eff a title, let's just try something)? Maybe it's the never-been-a-head coach pressure? Kelly's been one. I'd try anything at this point.

That's not going to happen

That's not even a realistic suggestion
Unrealistic as posited, absolutely not going to happen.

It would be very foolish of Earley not to lean on JK even more now. For that matter hit up a few friends in the baseball world he trusts the most and see what pearls of great wisdom they might have. I'm not expecting any silver bullets or quick fixes or anything like that, but very little in the world of baseball hasn't happened before. And listening to a few ideas from an elder or two on how to change it up and have fun might be worthwhile.

Oh, and if not already on retainer get the damned sports psychologist back in there stat. This is an area where POS has shown to be a freaking wizard... part of being mentally tough is of course preparedness, and my biggest fear for why we lack confidence of last year is the players not feeling like they are properly prepared.

We still have one available to all team members. I asked last week.

Very encouraging. Hopefully they are taking advantage, including HC.

The comparison is because of the obvious similarities between Earley and Vitello, both young, both never having HC experience, both seen as up and comers. My hope for you is the similarities outweigh the differences. If you are correct in your thinking about him, A&M is in for a rough three or four year stretch leading to yet another unknown coaching hire all the while dealing with the likely success from some other unnamed Texas school.

In my opinion, this is more about the bravado of the first reporter… he has a reputation for breaking coaches.

He's not making it 3 or 4 years my friend.

And as was stated by others, Vitello took over a team that had not made regionals or even had winning seasons for many years. He was building a program from scratch, not taking over a pre season number one team (injuries or not), and he also had 8 more years of experience as an assistant coach than Earley. The only similarity is that there were first time head coaches

Vitello stepped into a program that hadn't had a winning SEC record in 12 years and hadn't made postseason in 6 years. Not st all the same.

Vitello with this team would compete for a national championship
You don't know this. Purely speculation.

Lol no it's not. Look what he's doing this year already.

Earley is a dead man walking already. So far its the equivalent of Larry Coker taking over that 2001 Miami football team and going 0-4 to start the season. He's going to have a pull a major rabbit out of the hat to salvage this season. What a colossal disaster.

That team is not this team. You don't know what any coach would do with this current team.

Lol.

Look I am willing to give him the season but this season looks to be really bad maybe record bad. He is completely over his head and I feel for him but he got a shot at HC and a lot of money. However, he needs to be gone. He may end up being a great HC but do you really want to find out, and risk him continuing to be this bad (and make no mistake is not ready to be HC anytime soon).

Hiring him wasn't a horrible idea, it was probably the shrewdest choice at the time given there were no good options at the time. It is best to view him as an interim.

I think anyone assuming he will get past this season, with the way it is shaping up, is very optimistic. I think the idea that they won't can Earley early in the contract because Alberts is letting coach g and taylor play out their contracts, is a bad one. Baseball has way more support than those two sports combined. Look at the NIL put into the rosters the last two seasons. My guess is all of soccer and wbb nil combined over the last couple of seasons doesnt equal one of the last two baseball seasons NIL.
