Checked on our former second baseman Travis Chestnut and he's hitting .336 with 6 bombs for St. Edwards. If we could have gotten him another year of eligibility he would be starting and hitting in the four hole for us.
That is lesser competition he would be playing but bet he would have more K's than he already does which is bad at St Ed's he has 26K's he had trouble with fb's last year in the zone.

Would he help yes but make much of difference no.

If the pitching stays the way it is and our hitting catches up even a little bit, we can win series. Only problem is pitching is going to get more and more worn and our offense didn't capitalize when they were fresh and playing easier competition. I'm not super high on things turning around but it has happened to other teams before.

yes i mentioned that but he is still a way better defensive catcher and he wouldve been better suited here as the starter.

I agree 110% this is all from the top yes we've had some bad injuries but this roster has some serious talent as Ive state multiple times our pitching is elite quality and this is w/o stewart.
Our head coach and pitching coach have let this team down.
Will they figure it our I hope so but at some point they need to be accountable and lead not be one of the guys.

biggest problem is catcher in my opinion as we are seeing Appel was the glue and leader of last years team.
That position does not have talent but other than that we have enough.

Talent is absolutely there. Let's not be stupid about all this, yall. It's just not being currently exploited. For multiple reasons already stated all over multiple threads.

He didn't make contact with the baseball for like the entire months of may and June last year

Come on now

To me the next two weeks are CRUCIAL.

If we don't go 4-2 against Vandy and Kentucky, I don't think we will be able to climb out of the hole given the gauntlet we face after.

Going into Knoxville 3-6 or worse will crush us.

Right now the team needs to work together with the staff to settle in. Plenty of time to make a regional. But need to get comfortable with your best friends the bat and the glove.

Definitely think they are toast...hitting, errors and closing pitching...has been subpar all year (tell-tale consistently). Thing with baseball is that stats don't lie and there's enough statistical evidence to show team was unprepared, dependent on long ball, lineup seemed predetermined by last year (and NIL order), and we lost out on some closers in the transfer portal (and lost key fish recruits to tu after Schloss debacle -- who are thriving).

Really hoping the team finds something and wins several SEC series (or gets on a hot streak to hopefully revert back to some of the stats), but don't see it (missing Montgomery steady bat before his injury, missing Grahavoc, missing Sorrell....huge in y/y as forced pitchers hand -- this year, too many easy outs).

Unfortunately, team is pressing and playing tight as too much preseason accolades and living in last year success. Wish we'd switch to 'protecting the plate' and just put the ball in play vs. hero HR ball (on Tenn can do that it appears).

This is what I really want to know at this point. There are always a small handful of posters (apologies, I forget who they are) who have a good idea on the data and can prognosticate with somewhat reasonable accuracy.

Please, some of those posters chime in on what our record realistically needs to be in the remaining 35 games for us to at least reach a regional.

Normally, I would say 14 SEC wins would get you in. You have to go back to 2017 for the last time 14 wins didn't get an SEC team in. 13 is more iffy but SEC teams often gets in with that record. Only 12 has been done before but is more of a long shot.

With our non-conference, I would say we need 14 SEC wins. I would feel better on selection day if we had 15, but 14 would probably be enough. I don't think 13 will for us this year.

13 would do it if we stop losing non conference games along the way

so a path to 14 conference wins...

2-1 at Vandy
2-1 vs. Kentucky
---- Tennessee
2-1 vs. Carolina
1-2 at Arkansas
---- t.u.
2-1 vs. LSU
3-0 vs. Mizzou
1-2 at Georgia

well, that's only 13. Should have won a game against Alabama. Can't project any wins in Knoxville or Austin

I am all for giving coaches time, but Earley inherited one of the most experienced and talented rosters in the NCAA.

It looks like they have already quit on him.
And two of the eight position players are out injured. That is huge

I think most of us would just be content (not happy but content) if the talent we did have (and is playing) was playing better. Not necessarily the talent that we thought we had 3 months ago before the injuries, but we do still have talent (or at least those same players had talent last year)...

Jace and Schott hit better last year. Galloway, Kash, and Bergevin hit better last year at other schools. Binderup (who wasn't great last year) still somehow hit better last year than he has this year.

Why do we have so many batters hitting worse than they did last year? This team would feel a lot different if even just 3 out of Jace, Schott, Kash, Galloway, and Bergevin were putting up offensive numbers similar to what they were doing last year.

We have talent… just not throughout the lineup like we thought. We can use the Gavin and Caden injury as an excuse all we want … but every team has major injuries or will at some point. Also the only reason Kiel is starting is because Caden is out. The major issue is the talent from the portal isn't translating to A&M outside of Henseler and Patton. Kash has been a disappointment thus far. Bergevin, Galloway, and Harrison have been bad.

Also Binderup didn't take the step forward we hoped he would. The freshmen are playing like freshman (outside of Kiel). Schott is playing hurt and can't move. Jace can't get out of his own head.

It's just a lot of little things going wrong at once and unless we win the next two series I don't know if it'll get fixed this year.

Something that has not occurred? So, you call being tied in the first two games against Bama to start the ninth and a 2-0 loss in the third, not being in games? So, what is your definition of "being in" games?

Huh? That did occur. The things that occurred in the Alabama game are events, and their occurrences are facts

Saying "we will be in games" is a prediction of something that may or may not occur, and therefore is not a "fact"

What part of "has occurred" do you not understand?
