Someone brought it up in one of the other threads but 23 wins is the lowest season total in modern A&M history and and we may barely exceed that at this rate. Just completely unacceptable given the expectations this year and the talent on the team (even with the injuries).

I don't think pulling the plug year 1 will hurt us with other coaches because coaches have massive egos and think they can do better. The situation is also unique as Earley is under qualified for a job of this size, but was given a shot due to roster continuity and for hopefully maintaining the momentum the previous coach built.

That's my point. Unless this season makes a dramatic (and very unlikely) turnaround, we're going to lose current players, and recruiting will tank big time. IMO, the "rebuild" will be much worse, slower and maybe impossible with Earley at the helm. Much rather hire a proven coach to start rebuilding the program.

Yep. Sorry I wrote my response to also echo your sentiment to others.

I'm preparing for 2026 to be rough barring a complete 180 turnaround this season. I'd love to keep Gavin and Sorrell but if we miss a regional and keep Earley then I wouldn't blame them for leaving
yes, that's the quiet part out loud

the players that went to Omaha in 2024 may not want to stick around for a rebuild in 2026

of course that probably frees up another $500k in NIL

If current trajectory continues and we retain Earley for next year, I don't see how we build a roster. There will be attrition and what good players are going to sign up to transfer into this mess?

So what made people think the worst baseball team in the conference was number one in the country just a month ago?

Sorry but it's on the players. It's in their head now because they were on cruise control and bought the #1 hype. When other teams don't roll over, they don't know what to do.
And guess who is responsible for the players?

Players have got to perform at the level they are paid to perform.
You think we'd be hovering around .500 if dickbag was still here? If so, well…LOL
No.

I said in a different reply, but its saying the same in a different way, that NIL cruise control is the problem. Our current roster has zero edge to them and Schloss was a facilitator for providing that edge with the you are only as good as your last AB mindset.

Earley is a different style of coach obviously but, this is a big but, baseball is very humbling game and it really does come down to natural talent more times than not. Even if you are more talented than most, which this roster is, you still have to work hard to maximize that talent advantage. The other teams study players weaknesses and are trying to exploit them too. The problem I am seeing is we are missing the fastball in obvious dead red fastball counts routinely. WTF is up with that?

Understand, I am not saying Earley is blameless but the majority of this is on the players. They are pressing because its in their heads now.

We seemingly started the season with it "in our heads" and cannot seem to get right. Our coaching staff also seemingly has no clue about how to fix it.

Players may have gotten him an interview, but coach got the job based on his own merits. This "players picked the coach" narrative is getting old.

Flawed merits that Trev should have recognized. Disastrous decisions

$harp and company brought in Alberts to cut costs. He's the DOGE guy of college athletics. At a previous school, the guy cut the wrestling program like the week after they won the National championship. That should tell you everything you need to know about the guy. He's not the "splash hire / recruiting coaches" guy. He's the "Elon Musk fire everybody" guy.

Granted it was football, but firing Scott Frost mid season and hiring Rhule with a massive contract was very splashy/expensive on both ends. I think he just answers to the power brokers.

Trev is going to have a decision to make at the end of the season, and I'm not sure it shouldn't be a fairly easy one...

To me it's a very easy decision. Any cemeteries near the Alabama campus?

Wasn't he on our list this last year, and he essentially made it clear he wanted to stay in Tuscaloosa? I remember his name being brought up a bunch because of his connection to the area and A&M

We interviewed him. He said no thanks.
Questions - did we make him a serious offer? Why are there others who say they know him and would want the job? So is he completely off of the list going forward?

Didn't even make it that far. He told us he wasn't ready to leave bama.

Kendall says smth different

So, Dan Heefner, was never a consideration by the Aggie brass??

Been discussed here often, with direct input from a player's parent. He's a devout Christian and likes his current gig. He has a ton of control over things that are very important to him that likely just wouldn't work at a large state school.

Well, at least it was really nice to see Jace look for, swing at and knock the daylight out of a fastball that first at bat and to see him and Schott take a few more good swings in the same game. I really felt the home plate umpire almost singlehandedly took the bats (and confidence) out of most of our batters espeically when their starter was still in by calling a strike zone against us that was anywhere from 4-6 inches lower than the knees and 2-4 inches outside the plate. That really hurt some of our early at bats and to some degree, it seemed to further deplete the low confidence level most of our guys are playing with right now.

Anyone worried about a complete rebuild if we fire Earley, wait until you see the rebuild if we keep him.

This. Rebuild times are shorter. There's alot of additions to college baseball. NIL, Cali talent moving east, smaller draft classes, games on espn streaming. With our NIL we can rebuild very fast given we hire a really good coach.

Literally anything is better than what we have currently. But hey let's not try and poach a big name like the sips did to us because they are all happy and content, none of us know if anyone with skins on the wall would leave their job. Only one way to find out! Axe early and make some runs at them. Make all of them including the bama coach say no

First of all I'm not arguing to keep Earely. Second, I'm certain there are many, many options worse than who we have now.
