I don't think our recruiting is doing as well as it was the previous few seasons though I don't really keep up with it until the draft.

Somewhat off topic but with only 34 roster spots going forward HS recruiting won't be nearly as important for SEC teams outside of your stud/draft risk type prospects. There's just not enough room anymore to take flyers on kids that may develop into something in 3-4 years.

I respectfully disagree. I think the proven strategy for success in the pay-to-play era is to maintain the core identity through the program's development of HS players, recruitment and retention, supplementing with the 2-3 NIL studs might be a good strategy, but I believe most coaches and players will agree that accumulating talent doesn't necessarily = success, especially when many of you NIL 'studs' are trading up to a more competitive/malignant league (SEC).

I was talking about the context of a big SEC program. Of course smaller programs will still take larger HS classes I believe. It's an interesting discussion and we won't really see the impact of the roster limit downsizing for a few cycles.
