Hate to rain on your parade but you can't coach the HR.
And Watching Schott swing is laughable..that pinch hit was an awful decision and we just got lucky he swung at such an ugly pitch that the catcher couldn't get to it or that was out 3.

I'm not saying anything about Earley one way or another. But there was a time in his first season that I thought Marcus Freeman wasn't going to last long at ND.

absolutely. I tried to be positive until it looked like this thing absolutely wasn't going to get better, but as the referee got to 7, this team at least appears to be getting up off the mat. Time will tell.tjack16 said:

I'll say this, coaching decisions are trending much better. The lineup seems to make much more sense, from a conventional baseball wisdom standpoint, and a few of the questionable (in the truest sense of the phrase) decisions are actually starting to pay off.

Cannot teach the HR? What?
So you can teach a single, double and triple?
Or you can coach contact but not solid contact?
Or you can coach contact but not power?
TOTAL NONSENSE. We teach our youth team how to hit HRS ALL THE TIME.
HR hitting is 100% taught. Just like bunting it 100% taught.
If they hit like this every game and clean up the fielding, this team can be anyone in a 3 game series. And yes, HR balls are key to this particular teams success.

Earley and Binderup are the new Dusty and Maldonado
Blake must tear it up in practice. For two years he's won the 1B starting position then quickly lost it after the season started. And last year when we were trying to sweep bama POS pinch hit him for Sorrell. For sure the coaches see something that we don't and they just can't give up on the guy.
Someone who was the opposite was Aschenbeck. I remember after his first game appearance a couple of years ago that POS admitted being surprised by his velocity, saying he had never reached it in a practice.

He's playing out of necessity, but hopefully Kash is back next weekend. BB has actually played relatively well in the field since Kash went down, and I'm as surprised as anyone. His AB's took a nose dive this week, but he's been serviceable at first.Wabs said:

I see 1st base like many see catchers. In an ideal world you get both, but I'll take a bad hitter that is good defensively over a good hitter with bad defense.
Kash should have started there from the first game of the season.
You can see what they see on Tuesdays when he's bouncing balls off the top of the rec. It just doesn't work vs SEC pitching.
