I like Tony V.
He's a player's coach.
He hates Schloss.
He wins.
That's enough for me.
genuine question, I've never seen anything in the media indicating he hates Schloss. I know TV was his assistant, but what happened to cause bad blood? I've only seen TexAgs say this.

That's Jeremy Dupree. He makes onion skin look thick.

I say next time we get him, we row the boat.

I story I heard from last year that also occurred again this year.

One of my goof friend's son pitches for Queens University in Charlotte. They played at Knoxville last year in a midweek game. When they arrived in Knoxville unbeknownst to the Queens baseball team. Tony V had arranged a team dinner for them at the nicest steakhouse in Knoxville. They did it again this year when they played them a few weeks ago.
He loves his players and Tennesse, but these are the things that are not published about his character.

Mizzou should do what they can to get his input on who they should hire for that program.

I was secretly hoping that Tim Corbin took Earley to dinner to talk coaching while Vanderbilt was here. dude has a crapload of experience, and would hopefully be someone Earley could lean on, as it doesn't seem he ever had great coaching mentorship from whomever his HC's were as he was working through the coaching ranks (short time period - but still).

Dugout warning
Like, he argued the warning that was given to a dugout that's chirping too much?
Yep, and it seemed like his team woke up and responded (although it didn't change the outcome).

I don't get the hate so many have for him.

If he weren't a winning coach, would you feel the same way?

Probably? He is nothing like the jackass that manages Kentucky. He just seems like a passionate coach.

If he wasn't an elite coach we wouldn't even know about him.
During the CWS, I thought he was an arrogant ass, especially during our series. Then, when dip**** left us for tu, I realized that at one point TV was an assistant for him. After all of the Schloss stuff came to light, I realized that maybe TV knew the kind of man Schloss was, and I no longer felt angry about TV.
Yep. I did a complete 180 flip on him last season. I originally thought he was a loud mouthed hot head. Watching him in person at the CWS series I realized he was an uber passionate coach that had endless inspiration and support from his players. Guy is a winner and clearly doing it for all the right reasons.

And he's played those umpires like Charlie Daniels played the fiddle.

Not hard to do when Schloss sat on his ass in the dugout and stared into space.

It was worse than what you are describing. They asked Vitello about working with Schloss at TCU and Vitello talked about enjoying his time with Kirk Sarloos. He never mentioned Schloss. We didn't understand that at that point... but we do now.
