Moss and Jackson this weekend were lights out, provided extended relief, and were exactly what the team needed.

Besides Moss and Jackson, who are you looking at to take the next step and really provide some bullpen depth down the stretch?

Why does it matter who it is? As long as Wilson and others keep building confidence it does not matter.

It would be nice though that Josh Stewart came back healthy with his nasty slider.

I agree I don't care which specific player makes the next step. Just curious who we think is most likely. Bc another arm will be needed if we want this magic to continue

When asked this question I tend to want to see guys the coaches expected to be contributors and haven't to this point. That makes me look at Freshcorn. We need right handed relievers and he's got some good stuff when he can spot it.

The pen went 13.2 innings this series which is a lot of innings in three games. ERA was under 3.00. Good weekend against a loaded lineup.

Stewart is out for the year.

Some of the bullpen has stepped up big time and with almost half the season remaining someone else may claim a spot. More importantly, there are some that just need to sit the rest of the season.

Just no more Rudis in tight ball games please. He should be situational only. Moss has established himself. Jackson has had some really good outings. Wilson starting to look like the reliever he was suppose to be now that he is getting innings. Lyons and Simis are also starting to show some promise. Freshcorn on a super short leash.

I think McCoy and Lyons are the two I'd really like to see build some confidence against SEC competition.

If Jackson, McCoy, Wilson, Lyons, and Moss are all reliable then this team can go where we thought at the beginning of the year.

I'd utilize Rudis to chew innings in the midweeks from here on out. He was really good last year until Oregon shelled him…

Moss, Jackson, Wilson, Lyons, McCoy in that order

Concur with Agryan00. Not Rudis. He's your guy when you're already behind significantly to eat innings.

You guys crap on Rudis a lot but he's a strike thrower. The last game the ump consistently squeezed him and he had to throw it down the middle of the plate. He is a tweek or two away from missing some bats and getting back to where he was last year. Now, will JK be able to help him? I don't know that answer.

Putting up some crooked numbers against the Pig bullpen makes a huge difference

He also gives up home runs. A lot.

I'm not crapping on him. He's been a great Ag and had a really good regular season last year. I don't think he's getting the coaching he needs to excel. Regardless, I'm worried that if we keep trotting him out in SEC games he's going to get whiplash and shatter his confidence.

I think he's perfect for a Tuesday night starter. His stuff plays much better when it's not against elite hitters, and it would free up one of those arms we've seen consistently on Tuesdays for the weekend.

Does anyone know the situation with Morton? I was hoping he could be our Cortez this season.

I was also hopeful Cunningham could be a significant contributor either as a RHP in the rotation or long relief.

I wouldn't toss anyone. They all need to continue being accountable and actively responsible for seeking improvement.

looking back...the series vs. Arkansas basically came down to 3 long relief appearances

A&M got the great long relief appearances in the first game (Weston) and the last game (Luke)

Arkansas got the great long relief appearance in the middle game (Gaeckle)

Ags won the series 2 games to 1

I think Morton is the one with a pulled oblique. My brain is really stretched this morning though so I can't be certain.

Cunningham was the one I came to mention on this thread. I thought he looked great in early non-conference. Was thinking maybe they were holding him for weekday starter once we hit conference play, but seems like he's getting used less and less.

I think he either came in with arm issues or developed one shortly after arriving for fall camp. He was throwing mid 80's at the scrimmages in the fall and they shut him down. He was throwing mid 90's last season. He's no where near mid 90's and would get shelled in SEC games. It's disappointing for the kid (and us too). We were counting on last year's Cunningham paired with Stewart for the back end of the pen.

I hope Stewart gets a medical redshirt and is able to come back next season. I don't know how many years of eligibility he has (Covid, etc).

Interesting. Was looking at his limited stats and for guys with more than 1 appearance, he has one of the best opp BA and top 5 ERA. Made it the more baffling, but if he's not 100% that probably explains some of it.

Morton was left off the Vandy travel roster with a strained oblique. Not sure I've seen an update since then.

Then yes, he's the one Earley said wasn't 100% from the strain.

Really hope Caden Wilson can step up the rest of the season. I still believe he has quite an upside.

They were impressive and I sure hope they all continue to progress as we get deeper and deeper into the season. For us to make a serious run, we need some dependable relievers as our bats will face some very deep pictching staffs.

Texas is coming so we get to find out just how good we are. I do think we can sweep them with good pitching (keeping them to 5 or less per game). I do not think Texas can keep these games low scoring. And they lack the fire power for a barrell battle. 100% about their pitching.

Back is still getting tight when he throws.
