So how many fights will there be this weekend? Fans and/or players?
Goal is to win every single game. There is no goal of 'lets only win one'. Just like after the TU series people laughed when I said we could potentially go 9-0 from there going into the tu series. And here we are at 7-1 with the very good possibility of 8-1 after tomorrow. Again, the goal is to win every single game.TAMU1990 said:I get it that we want sweeps and run rules. However, the goal has to be winning the series and understanding getting 1 win still keeps us on schedule to get to a regional (which should be the overarching goal). If we happen to win out (8-4/9-3 with a Mizzou sweep at a minimum) we can look at loftier goals (such as hosting).StinkyPinky said:
The more I think about it (and the more I get pissed allover again with POS), we have to (not want to….but HAVE to) sweep these little pieces of sht (yes, I'll eat little pieces of sht for breakfast if it means winning). This series gonna stress me out like no other series has been able to over the last 3 seasons. I want this one BAD!
On a side note, I think the majority of the college baseball world is on our side this weekend.
My biggest fear is emotions will be too high and throw us off our game like when the pressure was on at the beginning of the season. But have confidence the TU, Arky and USC series has taken the pressure off and we play lose and confident. An important time for our clubhouse vets and leaders to keep us even.nothingbutlove said:

no they are notGymBroFisher said:Knew this type of post was coming, ya we want a sweep. But high level coaches have to be more strategic than "f it". Just not getting swept in this series will be huge. Texas is the best team in the country right now.Pichael Thompson said:

I could argue the best team in the nation RIGHT NOW is A&M.GymBroFisher said:

Schloss is 30-7 against his former schools since 2005, in large part because to him every team is a nameless faceless opponent. This week will be business for him and not personal. He focuses on playing to a standard.
Texas has 5 SEC sweeps this season with #3 Georgia and #8 Auburn at home. #2 LSU is the only SEC team to get a win in Austin, but they still lost the series. That's pretty rough.
If I'm coaching I'm trying to play my cards to try and secure 1 win most importantly, but if we happen to get it done early in the series then you can obviously try and play your cards for another.
Clearly you want to win them all, but most important thing is to not get swept.
The goal is to win the series - which means at least 2 games. However, we can't be swept. We need to win at least 1. There's nothing that I said that isn't accurate. Sure, we want to win the all, but we have to discuss what the minimal expectation should be. The key word is minimal.StinkyPinky said:Goal is to win every single game. It's semantics. Neither of what we're both saying is wrong. I'm just playing with words and saying as competitors we should never have a goal of just winning one gameTAMU1990 said:The goal is to win the series - which means at least 2 games. I lived and worked in that vicinity for too long. Nothing riled me up like sips. Throw in POS and how he treated our players, it's enough to make me explode.
Wrong. High level coaches go into every game expecting to win. As soon as you start lowering expectations from that failure continues to increase. What you're speaking of is hindsight after the series is over. Will the staff look at it as disaster if we only win 1 game? No, of course not. But in no way does the staff enter the weekend with the goal of winning just 1.GymBroFisher said:Knew this type of post was coming, ya we want a sweep. Goal should be for an infielder to airmail a throw into the dugout and hit Schloss in his fat face.
What do you propose an out of shape, family raising GenXer, with knee and back problems, do to prepare and stay focused on tonight?Noctilucent said:
Seems like the first goal should be beating the hell outta the Bearkats tonight. This thread is a perfect example of premature distraction. Many good points made, but still early since we are playing another team tonight.
