Was just playing with some stats today comparing the baseball teams performance through and since the first Tennessee game (run rule no hit game) and figured I would pass along. A couple notes first:

1) All stats are SEC conference games ONLY
2) Since the purpose of this analysis is to evaluate the change in A&Ms performance, when discussing opponents BAs, I have removed performance against A&M
3) I know BA and BAA is not the end all be all of baseball production stats. This was just a quick 15 min analysis.
4) Sample sizes aren't huge (10 and 8 games respectively), I know.

First of all, I looked at the offensive improvement. Through Tennessee game 1, were averaging 4.0 runs per game, since we are averaging 10.9 (WOW!). Through Tennessee game 1, we had a team BA of 0.215 while our opponents BAA was 0.265 (excluding games against A&M). We were batting a full 50 points lower than what our opponents were giving up. Since Tenn game 1, our team BA is 0.303 while our opponents BAA is 0.259 (excluding games vs A&M). Meaning we are batting a full 44 points higher that what our opponents are giving up on average. Conclusion: Not only has our BA and run production improved drastically, it has done so against (possibly only marginally) better pitching than we saw early in conference play.

Next lets look at the pitching staff. Through Tennessee game 1 our team BAA was 0.287 while our opponents average BA (excluding games against A&M) was 0.245. Opponents were batting a full 42 points higher against us. Since Tenn game, our team BAA is 0.263 while our opponents average BA (excluding games against A&M) was 0.294. Meaning opponents have been batting 31 points lower against us. Conclusion: Not only has our BAA improved, but it has done so versus teams whose BA is about 50 points higher than what we saw in the first half of conference play.

Long story short, we have improved SIGNIFICANTLY on both the mound and at the plate (duh). Just impressive to put some numbers to it. I was actually somewhat surprised to see how significant the pitching improvement has been given that Prager hasnt quite been his usual self. Maybe there is one more level that we can go to on the mound?

Since Sorrell has started playing we are 12-2 (7-2SEC) since his return. We moved TK to the leadoff spot in game 3 vs Kentucky we are 13-3 since that point.

I can't believe it took SO long to make such an obvious move. TK is perfect for the leadoff spot
