I have you in mind with most every post. The term applies, don't you think?

Back in the old days, players could settle this on the field, but if anything happens today, you can bet we'll get the worst of it for the umpires. There are some people who are so eaten up with rage at the sips that they don't care about the ramifications of starting something today, but we are trying to salvage our season and will need everyone available for LSU next week. If we were to bean Gasparino, knowing Schloss, they'd send a bunch of bench warmers out to scrap, and our position players in the field would join and get suspended. They could afford some suspensions. We can't. It sucks, but there is no way around it.

Can't do that or the pitcher and Mike get tossed for 4 games.

Players will sometimes get "snippy" with each other. I understand that. Sport, at that level, is a highly emotional activity.
Having watched the clip, I think the real fault lies with the 1B umpire. He could have, should have, immediately ejected the tu runnertold them to shut up and play fkn baseball. He didn't. And, because, he didn't, he impliedly approved of that activity. As a result, that kind of activity is allowed to go "unchecked".
My opinion only.
It was very clear what you were referring to since you specifically said "having watched the clip"mwm said:
I understand your point, but my comment was in reference to the tu-ttu game where the tu guy (Gasparino) went out of his way to run into the 1B man ((Kash). Sorry I wasn't clear.

Why wasn't Gasparino tossed also?

In our game or the Tech game? In ours, the officials told Earley they didn't hear Gasparino say anything
Of course they didn'tDecay said:MosesRAB-93 said:

Kash just happened to go on an impromptu rage. Apropos of nothing.
its not that tough. If we don't have an assistant coach that can take over for a few innings, then we have even more problems than we thought.Aggies2009 said:
It's a tough line to walk. If he gets tossed, then what?
TV wouldn't miss a second of coverage if a coach was giving the ump what for. It is ratings.Alyag08 said:
Maybe you only saw what they showed on tv? Earley fought with them about it for a long time. Went back to them like 3 times even.
Yeah but what good comes of him being tossed? We get to sit on a forum and say, "Our coach sure showed fight!"? No. It just looks like a tantrum. Pull your team off the field. Send the message that we won't deal with this level of officiating.shalackin said:its not that tough. Forfeit a game because you're pinch hitter got tossed after responding to some jawing? Sorry, that's a rather crazy suggestion. We still had every opportunity to win the game.Aggies2009 said:Yeah but what good comes of him being tossed? We get to sit on a forum and say, "Our coach sure showed fight!"? True. No real winning in that situation, is there?twk said:Forfeit a game because you're pinch hitter got tossed after responding to some jawing? Sorry, that's a rather crazy suggestion. I'm with you there. I've also seen the incredible shrinking strikezone at the Disch before.Quote:
This is why people didn't want them in the SEC.
Pull your team off the field? That doesn't make any sense. Lots of good can come from being tossed as a head coach. It can be a motivational tool and show of leadership. Not saying you have to throw a giant tantrum. Good coaches know the limits, and know how far to push them as well. If not during that opportunity, maybe stop the game to argue some of the horrible strike/ball calls that led to them gaining the lead. Sometimes you need a spark. And sometimes that spark can be from the head coach. Baseball today is soft.Aggies2009 said:Yeah but what good comes of him being tossed? It's not a few innings, though. It's a few innings and the entire next game. Considering how big this series is, I can understand Earley wanting to stay in it.shalackin said:its not that tough.
