So many watched 3rd call strikes, obviously the most memorable were TKs back to back to end both games.
What is the deal with watching close pitches with two strikes….?
That's baseball basics, right!?

It's easy to be a critic. And if he had swung and come up empty on those, there would be an outcry that he swung at a pitch outside the strike zone. I would have loved to see him connect for the double during today's first at at bat. But, it doesn't always go my way as evidenced by a good batter NOT getting a hit 2/3s of the time.

Critic…hardly.
It's an objective observation.
Between Fridays game and today's game, I counted at least 10 Ks looking.
It's not just TKs, those were just the most MEMORABLE, since they ended the game, and it happened to be him both games.

I wildly disagree that there would be an outcry if he had swung at a close pitch, that's what you do on two strike counts, in general and certainly with the game on the line.

I'll leave it at that, but we didn't get out talented these past two days.

One of the factors that can drastically make hitting more difficult is when you know the zone as a hitter and an umpire starts calling pitches out of the zone strikes regularly but inconsistently. If he's going to give the low strike or high strike consistently for instance you atleast know that's the zone but if he's just going to give random pitches 6 inches off the ground a strike call you become very indecisive and lose aggressiveness.

Personally I think starting to swing at pitches you know are out of the zone for fear of a strike call is a horrible idea. Can lead to nasty slumps swinging at bad pitches. If you know it's a ball you have to take it. If the umpire decides to be a crap show on that pitch well then oh well.

The best way to combat this is be aggressive early in counts at good pitches to hit when you have an umpire doing this, if there's a pitch to hit in 0 strike or 1 strike counts you better hit it.

TK can't handle off speed stuff as most of our hitters (Jace, Henseler, Sorrell, and Bear have been awful and not delivered at all. That is difference.

I get some of it. Granted, it was hard to see where the zone should be, but their breaking stuff had a ton of movement on it. Stuff would come out of the pitchers hand looking ball, and then drop or curve into the zone. If the batters can't tell from the pitchers release point that it's going to be a breaking ball, they can't adjust by time they realize it's breaking. And it looks like sup pitchers have been good at disguising that.

Royo is the only Ag hitter that has shown up in this series.

Kiel is 3 for 9 with two doubles and a walk. That is an OPS of 1.000. That is pretty damn solid despite being the final out of both games so far. Keep in mind he is only a freshman.

I don't care if he's a freshman or not. We all need to stop making excuses.

The players approached this series as any other & that includes the strike zone

Um OK. If Royo by your own assessment is the only hitter who "showed up" did not K looking on three pitches with a runner on second earlier in the game the situation in the 9th would be totally different.

Not really. Neither angry or old. Don't like moral victories. The whole team is 0-2 in the series. That's all that matters.

i think when you are facing a schloss coaches team especially one with wiener as the pitching coach you better be ready to hit and hit early. they pound the zone to get ahead. their whole mantra is based on 0-1 is better than 1-0. you have to be prepared to swing against schloss teams. i have watched this play out the same way when he was at tcu. this is how he wins games.

No one has taken a moral victory all weekend

"Quit making excuses" when no one has actually done is hilarious

The Aggies will be lucky if they see another fast ball the rest of the season after this weekend. Terrible approaches at the plate.

It's not a "moral victory" to say TK played well this weekend despite the two game ending K's. He did. I guess we can have a different argument on whether well was well enough.

The ones that disappointed at the plate were 2-5. It's really hard to win games when that part of your lineup is 3-27.

I think you're reading into it what you want. No one is making excuses and happy about the result.

Probably so. And I absolutely agree with above. A&M isn't losing games because of TK. It's Jace, Hensler, Sorrell, Harrison, and Kent that haven't impacted the games offensively.

No they haven't. No argument there as that being the difference. Unfortunate. We can hope they can respond accordingly and still give themselves a chance for a deep run into the tournament.
