On the game thread someone said LSU has declined a DH tomorrow. But it really doesn't look like they are going to get a game in today based on the forecast so not sure where that leaves us.

That happened about 10 or 12 years ago. Got there for a night game, pulled the tarp out before it actually started, everybody hung around for about threehours and they never had the game that night.

How can team just decline a doubleheader?

I know they don't do it, but that should count as a forfeit.

I guess they want to see if the rain pushes through quick. The heaviest round is expected right at game time. But if its like last nights storms, they'll lingering and keep back building.

That's what it's supposed to do all night. Even between bands of rain last night, we still had lots of lightning.

That's my point. Just take the double header and move on.

I guess they want to try and play head games too with the mental redness having to be reset multiple times.

I know nothing for certain. Just making observations.

If it gets called tonight, they can play a DH tomorrow or Sunday. If they refuse either of those, it's a forfeit. From what I understand of the rules, Saturday is preferred by the SEC and NCAA. Mostly so you get full games in and you don't have to deal with travel curfews.

Home team makes the call until the game begins, at least according to the commissioner's regulations. Theoretically, we could decide right now that we aren't playing tonight and reschedule the game for tomorrow. In practice, it does seem to involve more consultation.

Wet outfield and risking injuries is reason enough to postpone right now. Play 2 nine-inning games tomorrow.

Only losers are Transportation Services who lose 1 game parking revenue.

Looks like 1:00 might have provided a sufficient window, but that wasn't certain looking at the forecast last night.

For us it does not make sense to play. I think LSU does not want to play a dh tomorrow.

So, who gets to make the call if we play or not tonight? Does the SEC make the call or does the Home team make the call? I don't know how LSU would get to be the deciding factor on whether we play tonight or a doubleheader tomorrow. If all the weather radars show rain until 9 PM, can LSU really say we won't play a doubleheader tomorrow and we want to play until midnight? How could they get that choice and we don't get the choice to say we don't want to play until midnight?

This seems just like the stupid travel rule where Kentucky was able to leave at 4:30 but then the next weekend they have SEC game starting at 8 PM on Sunday and that is no problem.
