I thought it was the hammate bone. Jace just broke his wrist.

Was it Jace's wrist? I thought it was his hammate. Didn't someone hurt their hammate last year?

Jace didn't break his wrist, he broke his hand- he got drilled on the hand at the first knuckle and it was pretty gnarly.

Sorrell, IIRC, missed the first half of the season with a hamstring. Then he came back and we got hot (and Jace had his best stretch of the season then) but he broke his hammate bone and had to have surgery so he missed the remainder of the season and SEC tournament. Not coincidentally, when Sorrell went down again we struggled again.

We really didn't play all that bad without Sorrell to end the season. It was such a short time period though.

He went down first game against Georgia. Following that we went:

W then L against Georgia in Athens
W against Miss St
W against Auburn
L against LSU where they burned Anderson and Eyanson to barely beat us with broken hand Jace (LSU needed one win in SEC tournament to secure a top-8 seed)

And we were one safety squeeze away from tying it up late.

I still have nightmares about Kash not running from 3rd and that Royo interference.

Base running and infield defense lost us more games last season than people realize.

I think one of the reasons I'm so optimistic about this season is that Pennington just so happens to be the perfect coach to fix those glaring issues from last season. Him being an Ag is a huge bonus, but from a coaching standpoint he's exactly what we needed.

Between Pennington and Earley taking back over the offense, I can see this season look a lot different than last year.

No doubt about it, I'm ready to get hurt again.
