The problem is that there is no "warning" part on these fields. It's not a different surface, just a different color.

Yes, that could be true if it is an older turf field. However, most newer turf fields have an artificial warning tract called Safeshell for player safety. It provides an audibly cue with a unique texture so players will hear it underfoot as soon as they make contact with the the warning track. It also has a distinctive underfoot fill that the outfielder will/should recognize.

With that said, the way this kid rammed into the wall and it being a high school artificial field, you are probably correct.

Also, baseball should be played on grass and real dirt.
