Why look past UH and LSU?

We need to focus on the game ahead of us that day/week.

Just win and don't worry about "what ifs."

Ahh, one of these posts again! Gotta love the posters who don't realize this is a fansite and not a team locker room where we are all discussing with coach our plans for the season!

C'mon boys, let's all focus on the games right ahead, no more talk that will distract us from our task at hand!

Pray for rain the night of the Prairie View game.

Need to pray for rain, thunder, hail and maybe a tornado alert. Prairie View is currently at 299.....guessing a win vs them is going to cost us at least 50-60 points

Our RPI will get pinged 7 points tonight for our win vs Houston....a loss would have cost us over 100 points. Houston was a Quad 4 win with them sitting at 103. Tarleton St. will be a Quad 3 game.....still need to win it.

Can't we just come to some agreement with prairie view to pay them a sum of money not to play the game and give some excuse to the public as to why the game was canceled.

It happens every year across the country. My thinking is if you don't want to play a low-RPI team like PVAMU, then why do you schedule them in the first place? We have plenty of convenient options for Tuesday night games like Baylor (RPI 34), TCU (49), Rice (53), Dallas Baptist (68), Louisiana Tech (92), UT-Arlington (114) or Abilene Christian (117) that would be better than Prairie View. We played Texas State (RPI 38) twice, so why not play UTSA (33), Tarleton (70), Houston (101), or Lamar (110) again? Or if we insist on scheduling teams like Texas Southern (290) or PVAMU (299), get it out of the way in February or early March.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Maybe it isjust on my end but isn't Boyd's world RPI needs report normally published by this time of year? I keep refreshing it but that familiar report never loads for 2026.. did the site stop doing it? Am I just early?

Agree

Don't schedule them

17-12 I think with a quality win in Hoover

3-3 against LSU and Florida
3-3 against Mississippi schools
2-1 against Auburn

That's the recipe IMO to put us in that 7-10 seed range.

Interesting, had not seen this. That's a more fair way of doing things. It gives teams a pretty good incentive to get a 12 vs a 13 seeding. The Aggies are right on the borderline as of today.

It's a nice try but wait til you see what happens.

If you play this out further, you would also have a #33 going to the overall #1, as well as #64. That means the #1 seed has to deal with 2 beasts in their region. I'd rather be #8, and have #24, #40, and #56 coming in. The point is, what they do with the traditional 3 seeds matters quite a bit.

You just rank the RPI of 33-64, put them in groups of 4, and invert the pods. In other words, national #1-4 gets one team each from #45-48, and one team each from #61-64.

Pretty simple to ship everybody using a computer to figure out travel and conference opponent exclusions.

random note...

A&M has not played in a road super-regional since the 2015 season

kind of forgot that it's been that long

the Ags' last 4 SR's were all at Blue Bell in 2016, 2017, 2022, and 2024

Seeding the top 32 means the 1s and 2s at each regional are seeded as opposed to the placement being more aligned with cost. I think we know in our hearts the 4s usually are not competitive. Sometimes the 3s seem intentionally subversive to the 1s. I don't think this seeding change completely avoids sandbagging, but I'm sure it helps since they have to look past 32 to get the top 32 right.

I found it while looking for something else as I am wont to do and felt it was a good topic to share. I'm not here to defend it, though…

Which year was it that we should have been the SR host but Byrne (IIRC) let TCU have it for some inexplicable reason?

Didn't realize Rice had a decent RPI. Is Pierce gonna get them back in the postseason this year?

The opportunity is there, but there is little room for error. Rice only has 6 games remaining vs. top 50 RPI teams - 3 at home vs. #46 UAB and 3 on the road at #39 East Carolina. Their remaining schedule is:

Home vs. #149 Memphis (x3)
Home vs. #101 Houston
Away vs. #149 Wichita State (x3)
Home vs. #108 Lamar
Home vs. #46 UAB (x3)
Away vs. #39 ECU (x3)
Away vs. #101 Houston
Home vs. #136 Tulane (x3)

With only 6 quality games remaining out of their final 18 games, Rice cannot afford to lose more than a couple of games...unless they win the American Conference tourney.
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
