Agree. My point is he has better tools. Jay Johnson is an elite coach and he looks totally lost right now. I'm not saying Earley is anywhere close to that level but tools help.

You know we had Moss, Freshcorn, and Lyons last year too right?

Moss was great out of the pen, but Lyons and Fresh Freshcorn are not even close to the same as they were last year.

Jake Brown broke his hamet bone. Done for the year with the rest of the LSU team.

Not farting off the injury...

You know players get better and unfortunately sometimes worse from season to season too right?

This is an entirely different "team" this year. Same as for LSU. Sometimes the issues can be figured out. Sometimes they can't.

Yes agreed, and Earley seems to have figured out when he needs to pull his starter and go to the pen. He was awful at this last year regardless of the talent available. He would even pull a pitcher that was on a roll way too soon for some reason

I think some are looking too far into the weeds here.

Our pitching is not great. It is actually quite pedestrian and average.

But that's the point. All it needs to be is pedestrian and boring. Throw strikes and don't give up free bases.

Heavy reliance on the offense and defense needs to backup our pitchers. As long as we keep hitting, a perfect formula for a deep run.

Are they good enough to make a CWS Finals again? Think we need 2 addt bullpen guys to step up.

Vargas is one of them. Who is the other?

Sims also needs to stay at his level. He has not been average. We need a solid 6-7 inning guy like him to make Omaha IMO.

We can hope. The Regional and Omaha formats are really tough on pitching staffs. I think we will have to outhit teams. Look at Game 3 of the LSU series. Our bats were silenced for much of that game. It will be tough to win in the post-season like that. I think we can expect Shane to continue to improve following TJS last year. Hopefully our other pitchers can also.

LSU went to 11 innings at Hail State last night finnally losing 10-8. Maybe our pitching was better than I thought. That's with Jake Brown out.
