In the mid-90's it was still 25 cent hot dog night. 25 cents for a hot dog, popcorn, or small drink. Limit 6 items total so you had to choose wisely. Someone would open a big can of chili and pass it up the rows of 203 until it was gone. Great times!

Air Force was at Grand Canyon this past weekend and plays San Jose State this upcoming weekend. That means they flew to Austin just to turn around and fly back home.

I know that, I did not say anything about RPI, just used it as a means to call them little brother.

I don't get that either. Credit to Florida for having a #3 strength of schedule, but they've lost weekend series to High Point (RPI #49), Alabama (6), Ole Miss (7), and Auburn (4). Those are all good teams, but that's 4 losing weekends...so far. Throw in their mid-week losses to Jacksonville (131) twice and Bethune-Cookman (200) and I don't see a #4 national seed resume at this point in the season.

Gators have gone 5-0 vs. in-state rivals Florida State (9) and Miami (35). Fortunately for Florida, they only have one Tuesday game remaining...May 5th vs. North Florida (164).

UF has a chance to solidify their resume over the last 4 weekends of the regular season. They have A&M (8) at home, then at OU (16), then home vs. Kentucky (30), then at LSU (63). If UF is what D1Baseball says they are, the opportunity is in front of them to prove it.

Gators have 2 elite pitchers on Friday and Saturday plus a really good closer. They have some other talented arms, but nothing reliable.

Their offense is below average by SEC standards. In conference play, they have 3 regular starters with OPSs north of .800, 1 at .746 and everyone else sub .700.

Teams with elite weekend rotations, limited pitching depth, and average (at best) offenses typically struggle midweek as they can't outslug some of the better mid-majors.

Don't let their mid week results fool you. They are going to be a handful this weekend because of what they can do on the mound, especially on Friday and Saturday.

Bullpen day for the Mountaineers (mostly the back end once the game quickly got out of hand,16-0 thru 3 innings) in which if they were not giving up free passes (with a few WPs in the mix) they were giving up HRs (5 total).

So the path here to a series win is out-duel them Friday or Saturday and then win Sunday Runday.

They do matter. Otherwise, why bother playing them? For the D1Baseball top 25, they don't seems to come into play all that much. But for things like RPI...which are a straight calculation and not based on any "eye" test...the games definitely matter.

ASU has lost 3-straight mid-week games to UNLV (RPI #182), Arizona (150), and New Mexico State (240). No, these games do not affect their Big 12 standing, but when the committee is splitting hairs between a 2 and 3 seed or a 3 seed and getting left out, these games definitely matter.

If these games don't matter, then why are teams often so anxious to find a way to cancel the RPI killer games late in the season? Happens every year. Wouldn't surprise me if we found a way to mysteriously cancel the PVAMU game in a couple of weeks. We wouldn't worry about doing that if the games didn't matter.
