You'd think beating them twice head-to-head and having a better record would put us ahead. This is what I meant in a previous thread about completely unmerited advantages always accruing to the sips, seemingly across most sports.

sippie started high, has generally played well (except for a couple of head scratching midweek Ls) and their only series loss is to A&M. In other words, they've not had a poor enough week to drop them much in the polls.
The Aggies on the other hand were #25 in D1 Baseball poll, to the surprise many, and while starting the season well as far as compiling Ws did so in such manner in which only small incremental moves up seemed warranted. Then A&M had a very rough start in SEC play (1-4), a poor enough start that many on TexAgs were demanding that Earley be axed, yet still hung on in the rankings and have been rewarded rather well for going 13-2 in league play since.

What I find interesting is that people see rankings and complain why they arent reflective of a current eye test like power rankings.
Then when people see power rankings they complain that a lower ranked team is higher than a team with a better record or even lost to head to head weeks ago.
Rankings are really about the entire corpus of work so far. One team being "28-5" then being "30-7" doesnt usually necessitate a drop. A 2-2 week doesnt erase the first 33 games.
Power rankings on the other hand ask two questions simulateously: how good is the team and how are they playing? The "28-5" is good, but losing 2-2 that week shows they are mortal and if the team behind them go 3-1 or 4-0 there is a solid case that one team is playing lights out and the other team is sleepwalking a bit.
Its all very subjective and gets eventually gets shook out by the end of the regular season anyway. And you can see teams that are .600 in conference play somehow catchfire in May and end up in Omaha or eventually raising the trophy. This is why we have a 64 team post-season, instead of just sending the Top 8 to Omaha for a championship bracket like college football now.

It will always be this way until the Aggies get some skins on the wall. There are bonus points that go with national championships.

We're 14-6 in conference. 7-8 wins would put us at 20 or 21 in conference (assuming a win against PV, if it is played). That's top 4, maybe top 2. I don't see us getting ahead of UCLA.
We are #4 in RPI right now. We finish at home against the current #5 (Auburn), on the road at the current #12 (Ole Miss), and at home against #14 (State).
5 more conference wins gets us to 19 in conference. That's a fairly certain top 8 seed.
4 more conference wins gets us to 18 in conference, That is still a likely top 8 seed.
I think it would take a 3-6 conference finish to take us out of the top 8, but we would still host a regional.

The sips always get spotted 5-10 ranks higher than they deserve in every sport they are in. This has always been the case.

Well he just straight up said a few days ago on Texags radio that they're a better team than us. So there's that.
Well delconte is probably setting at a cemetery just down from Kendall's house… just a waiting…
