If we got a 1 seed, I am perfectly happy with Sdao in game 1 vs the 4 seed. Sims gives us the 2/3 match-up with the "harder" opponent.

This avoids the common dilemma teams have to withhold their best starter for the 2nd game, breaking rotation.


He'll need a short leash though if we get a team like Tarleton…they can really hit and Sdao could get roughed up even by a 4 seed of their caliber if he's hanging over the plate too much like he usually does

LSU has had a rough 2025-2026 for the big 3 men's sports. I can't remember a time when A&M failed that bad in all 3 sports at the same time

In either 2022 or 2023 we did this with a late season RPI anchor game. I can't remember what the excuse was but everyone knew it wasn't legit and was just so our RPI wouldn't drop.

It was 2022, we cancelled Incarnate Word on May 17th. Our RPI wasn't very strong that year but our SEC performance is what got us a top 8 seed. I think our RPI was in the low 20's and that game probably would have dropped us even with a win just like PVAMU will do to us this year in late May

If that game gets cancelled for any reason other than weather it will be complained about for sure but who cares

I think it will depend on our RPI standings at the time -- if playing that game guarantees we lose a host spot, I think they'll find an excuse to cancel. Otherwise, I think Earley will want to play the game.

Virginia and West Virginia have already canceled their games today (weather related).

And North Carolina game is cancelled.

Maybe North Carolina was quicker to cancel this game than normal because of their opponent but there is actual storms around Chapel Hill.

As of this morning, LSU is #61 in RPI and Missouri is #121. If both move up one spot to #60 and #120, the Aggies would be 10-7 in Q1 games and 5-0 in Q2 games.

Oregon State drops five spots to #15 after losing to UTRGV at home last night.

They close the season with:
  • #200 Cal St Northridge (x3)
  • at #94 Portland
  • at #261 Long Beach State (x3)
  • #94 Portland
  • #159 Air Force (x3)
They will not be top 16 in the RPI even if they go undefeated in that stretch. I think the committee will show them some grace due to the circumstances of their schedule not being their fault, but their top 8 hopes are all but dead and if they lose another game they will probably miss out on hosting a regional altogether.

Things are getting EXTREMELY dicey for Vanderbilt. They're sitting at 10-12 in SEC play after blowing a lead last night in Tuscaloosa. Tide currently up 5-0 after three in game two.

With an RPI of 67, they really need to win seven of their last eight (including today) to have a shot. Their last two series are at Mizzou and vs South Carolina, so no RPI help even with wins. They'll be relying solely on their SEC record if they can't come back today and win tomorrow.

On the one hand, it would be crazy to see a 16 or 17 win SEC team be left out completely.

On the other, they might have the worst RPI ever for an SEC team with that many conference wins.

Even dicier now for Vandy at 10-13 with a 68 RPI. They might sweep one of Missouri and South Carolina, but both seems unlikely. Tomorrow feels like a must win for them.

The silver lining is that even at RPI #11, we are 13 points out of the #7 spot. We can make that up tomorrow with a win.

Two more wins (assuming you mean in SEC play) would put us squarely on the host bubble and you'd risk the narrative of losing our last three series (or being swept on two of our last three) working against us.

Four more wins and we are definitely hosting the first weekend and you'd have to tell me how they came for me to say how I felt about our top 8 chances.

Tough day all around, but it was far from the death of our top 8 hopes. Tomorrow is a big day for the confidence heading into the final two weeks of the season.
