I am kind of amazed so many wish to throw Sdao overboard.

I am wondering who our fourth starter is. Sdao is sufficient despite some shaky outings.

So fourth starter when needed is Darden? Hate to pull Lyons out of the pen.

Can't afford to throw anyone overboard.

Some, but very few are saying to throw him overboard. We are talking about a change and not completely shelving him. His outings right now are not productive. You get 4 innings from him and 4-5 runs on average which means you are behind to start the weekend almost every weekend.

OU - 3.2 IP and 4 ER
UGA - 5.2 IP and 5 ER
Mizzou - 4.2 IP and 7 ER
Vandy - 5.0 and 4 ER
texas - 4.0 and 4 ER
LSU - 4.2 and 2 ER
UF - 3.2 and 3 ER
Auburn 1.0 and 6 ER
AVG - 4.0 IP and 4.4 ER
Total - 32.1 IP and 35 ER

After not one or two, but after 8 SEC starts, Sdao's ERA is 9.74, ridiculous for any SEC weekend pitcher.

He does not have an SEC win, has 4 losses, half of our SEC losses.

Put him in the bullpen, that will be a huge change in his mindset, use him against LHH-heavy lineups, he was great coming out of the pen early in his A&M career.

In fairness to Shane, he's coming off Tommy John, always a tough road, first year can be really tough.

I'll leave the Friday starter up to Earley and Kelly, that's their job, but we can't keep running Sdao out there as a starter, need to get a plan for regional play.

I think Lyons is perfect where he is. Not sure you want a guy who basically only throws fastballs as your starter.

Yep. Lyons is way too valuable out of the bullpen. Dude just chews up innings to get us to Freshcorn. Leave him where he is.

Few here want to "throw him overboard." We want to rethink how he is used. Can you see that having a Friday night starter with a 10 ERA this deep into the season is not a good strategy?

He is valuable to the team, but he is not providing value in his current role.

Criticizing his ERA is the easy part, coming up with a better solution is the hard part. Making Lyons a starter has a cost. He is doing really great as a middle relief guy and sometimes closer. Not sure you want to mess with that.

Plus where is Sdao's head right now? What does he want to do? We need everybody's head in the game. We do not have any spare pitching.

Are you really going to want to bring Sdao out of the pen with that same era? The only way i would do that is if he felt he could contribute better in that role.

That's exactly what I would want to do. Sdao is a reliever. There is a big difference between starting and relieving. Sdao had plenty of success out of the pen. Going back to last year his starts (with the exception of Ole Miss last year) have not been good.

Looks like Coach Earley agrees with me.

Let Darden run through the lineup once, then reassess. I wouldn't be surprised if Shane plays much better out of the bullpen rotating it this way.

We are flawed. It is what it is. Not sure we can triage it given our bp situation.

How about moving Sims and Moss up a day and letting Mr. TBA be Hunter Bond? Before saying it's crazy to put that kind of pressure on a guy who has been recovering from an injury and has pitched only 5 innings all year, consider that every year some team falls into the loser's bracket in their regional and has to count on a guy like that for their biggest game of the season.

We can't give up on Sdao, there's just not enough other arms. Hope he can light it up in the bullpen. I'm trying to remember why he was starting the second game the 2024 Super Regional. Was Lampkin hurt?

Sdao emerged as the second-best starter on the team by the end of 2024. Tanner Jones and Justin Lamkin really struggled down the stretch and Shane was given a chance to start at Ole Miss after being nails in the pen.

He had a great start against OM, and was solid in his other starts.

Lamkin was solid in the postseason, at least he was in Omaha from what I remember

He was fantastic in Omaha, particularly against Florida. I know we can't stand our former coach as a person, but it was a hell of a call to throw him in there against the Gators twice after the stretch run he had. Whatever advantage they saw from Justin against that lineup...credit where it's due for leaning into it.

We were really up against it after Sdao went down against Oregon, and Lamkin stepped up to make that run in Omaha possible.

Bond may have an important weekend role going forward.
Between his 1 inning vs. UF and his 3.1 innings vs PVU, he has
retired 13 batters in a row.

I expect Bond to be coming out of the bullpen this weekend behind Lyons and Freshcorn as the next go to guy available

I think it was just the one at the beginning of the year right? While they were waiting for Tanner Jones to get healthy?

I remember them wanting to use Shane as kind of a co-closer until Cortez took over that role. There were a lot of people really wanting Shane to get a look as a starter because of the embarrassment of riches we had in the pen that year while our starters underperformed (other than Prager).

No, he had several starts during the back half of the season. He threw well against Ole Miss, but they were a mediocre team at best.

Not everybody throws their best pitcher on friday night these days. I don't blame Earley for not moving him to Friday night. Would be a hell of a hill to climb if we lose friday night when he pitches. That could very well happen against teams that throw their ace against us.

Don't have enough pitching , not particularly surprising because most teams don't and last year was rough which makes attracting talent harder.

Somebody made the point that teams that make it Omaha have one or two guys over perform down the stretch I am Hoping it is Bond and Sdao and the Ags get hit stay hit and we have 6-7 more weeks of rooting for the good guys
