Ford. It was a curveball in, that didn't get in. You can't be afraid to miss way in and hit her or walk her there.
Edit: after watching the replay, it should have been outside. Probably looking for something that started off the plate and possibly catch the outside corner. But not over the heart of the plate.

Pitching is definitely an issue. We just don't have an ace and it shows in these types of games. Auburn was hunting for the right pitch and we were constantly popping up and flying out.
Love our coach. She puts together some good seasons, but I fear we don't have a lot of ammunition for post season runs unless we get very hot.
Praying we remain a top 16 seed (we should) but definitely will not be a top 8.

It was very disappointing to lose 11-8 to No. 14 Auburn in our opening SEC tournament game. As a result, we have lost 5 of our last 7 games. I hope we still get a top 16 seed to host the regional, but I won't be surprised if the NCAA Division I Softball Committee makes us travel to someone else's regional.
Auburn finished with a 4-20 SEC record and got throttled 25-0 by LSU in their penultimate regular season game just 96 hours ago. Yet, Auburn won back-to-back SEC tournament games against No. 11 Missouri and No. 6 Texas A&M by a combined score of 17-10.

I love Trish too, but she's the Pitching Coach and we don't have the arms to make a legitimate run. We lost our Regional at home last year because we couldn't pitch. I'm not connected enough to know why we can't recruit top notch arms, but we haven't. Sucks, because I think the rest of the pieces are there.

Met Pannell and Warks dads today. They shared some amazing perspectives. A lot of which I'm going to keep close to the chest. What I will share is that they both said the girls love Coach Ford. And that Coach Ford is a straight shooter when it comes to accountability. Today was an absolute heartbreaker.

NIL $ seems to be the name of the game when it comes to getting ace quality pitching (see Tech). So, unless we're willing to ante up the $, I don't see much changing in the future regarding pitching.
I still really, really like Ford for the job. I think what the team is lacking is the NIL money to buy an ace like some of the other top programs have done. Tech comes to mind - they've now bought at least 2 star pitchers and it's paid off in dividends for them.
We had an ace last year (last 2 years) and couldn't get it done. First season was so close. Last season was just a catastrophe in the tournament. This year it just hasn't come together. I think we will be fine. Ford has done incredible things with the money she does have. There is a certain women's program on campus that isn't even competitive, this is definitely not that. I think she will find her pitcher and Lessentine could turn into that. Who knows?
Just to echo what others have said, absolutely have to get a stud pitcher to round out this team.
I'm not a softball expert, but we have seen Lessentine for 2 years. She had spot work last year and was basically our #1 pitcher this year. Is there a realistic expectation that she can get better to be a dominant pitcher or has she maxed out where she is really good, just not dominant.

I'm certainly not an expert either, but just don't see her as an ace. She's a good 2nd to have to give a true ace a break. It's going to take $$$ to get a true ace here.
Wasn't there some discussion of Kennedy tipping pitches in last year's regional too?
Also, seems like an easy fix today if we had noticed it.

Coach said that Lessentine is "nicked up" a bit and her last few outings would indicate that. She had been pitching pretty well, but noit lately.
