It looked pretty brutal. Not sure he comes back anytime soon.

Another of our batters hit in the head. Tired of seeing them just have to take it, maybe give a little back for once.

The pitchers/team need to held responsible somehow for head hits. Like giving the hit team a run or a runner on third, maybe a fourth out.

I never understand this kind of comment. Are you saying lsu and ole miss both were planning to take Hacopian and Kellner out of the lineup by throwing a heater at their face?

And are you wanting our pitchers to attempt murder on the opposition?

Just clarifying

I would throw at them. Maybe not at the head. That's baseball. We are a good hitting team. They may not be intentionally throwing at our head but they are probably intending to brush us off and make us uncomfortable. So yeah, return the favor and maybe the opposing teams don't hit off our pitchers like it's BP.

I personally don't know the answer, but there has to be a better option than just take your base. Maybe a hit to the head is an auto double. And if there are other batters on base, they advance 1 base. Make the head to the head hurt far more than a simple HBP which can include glazing the jersey.

As a former pitcher, I always heard if you want to brush them back, throw at the hear because batters can get out of the way easier. If you want to hit them, go for the back.

I give the pitchers the benefit of the doubt on head shots. I don't believe they are ever intentional.

JUST TO CLARIFY--

YES, YOU HAVE TO PITCH INSIDE.

We (as a pitching staff) don't do this enough. I've posted numerous times, when we waste a pitch, it appears AGGIE pitchers seem to ALWAYS waste a pitch outside (away from the hitters--say an 0-2 or 1-2 counts) giving no reason for the hitters to be uncomfortable in the batter's box. This (pitching inside) is strategically correct in the game of baseball. In those counts (0-2, 1-2) we don't want to hit the batter by coming inside, we just want to brush them back, maybe set up a pitch on the outside corner, a breaking pitch inside, a low fast ball outside, etc....

"And are you wanting our pitchers to attempt murder on the opposition?"

WOW??? There are some politically incorrect things I'd love to say but will strangle my tongue.

Either you've never played and/or do not understand the game of baseball (not that I'm the Ultimate Wizard), but as pitchers you have to get the other team's hitters, to respect you by pitching inside occasionally--i.e., use both sides of the plate.

NO, YOU DO NOT HEAD-HUNT OTHER HITTERS.

If you ever INTENTIONALLY HIT an opposing hitter (called retaliation), you are hitting them in the @$$, HIP, THIGH, LOWER BACK (a place that is muscular that can take a hit) so you don't "MURDER" them. I realize (or at least hope) the opposing pitcher did not intentionally go head-hunting.

But, if you plunk their hitters each time an Aggie is plunked, it's amazing how that cr@p tends to stop.

When you are behind late in a game, it would be kind of stupid to intentionally put a runner on the base paths.

And the Ole Miss pitcher and catcher looked pretty shook up. The pitcher was a little shaky after that. It's too bad our bats could not do the retaliation.

As I stated, I assumed the opposing pitcher probably didn't go head-hunting. Regardless, you send messages throughout a baseball game to the opposing teams--NOT JUST ONE YOU'RE PLAYING THAT DAY, BUT OTHERS DOWN THE SCHEDULE. If you hit our guys, we hit your guys.

It's amazing when you do this as a team, the respect your hitters are given and those inside pitches thrown by the opposing pitchers aren't quite as wild.

Note, we've had TWO (2) players that have been hit in the head area--THAT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN WITHOUT SOME TYPE OF RETALIATION.

Toss the pitcher as long as the person hit is out. Don't allow retaliation.

Uggh. I couldn't tell if it hit his cheek/forehead partially or made contact only with the helmet. But the way he went down (and that was NOT a FIFA Flop) made me think the former. Obviously, a mid-90 mph ball can make for a good bit of swelling even if it's only crunching your helmet against your skull. Hope he's OK but it sounds as if he will be out a while.

I mean we do have plenty of guys in the bullpen that could afford a suspension…

Just throw an opener with a 12 ERA out there and get weird.

I find it comical that some of us believe that our pitching staff, which regularly struggles to find the strike zone of late and can never pitch to a shift, has the ability to execute an inside pitch without hitting a batter. Come on people. Let's try and be realistic.
