So you prefer they wait like t.u. did with Schloss?

You think Lamar is headed to the MCWS?

Please don't call it that

For Lamar, the post season is the MCWS. So your suggestion is announce now but if Lamar miraculously made it to the MCWS then take it back and wait until the day after the MCWS like t.u. did?

The Lamar coach is handling this 100x better than POS did. There is no good way to leave a program, the best way to do it is this way…once you u know you're leaving and have accepted another job just be transparent about it

As long as Lamar's coach wasn't recruiting players to go to UH back in April, I can't see any issues with this coaching transition.

Coaches move on all the time. It's part of the game. Even if they go to a rival or someplace you don't want them to go, that's fine. Employees have to make what they think are the best decisions for their life and their career.

But trying to sabotage your soon-to-be former employer on the way out the door is as chicken *bleep* as it gets. It does not appear the Lamar dude is doing something that sorry and underhanded...so good on him for making a move that he believes will help his career.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

They got screwed in '83 by the umps in Austin.
Honestly, and in my opinion, leaving Lamar for Houston isn't a big move up. I know. I know, it's Houston and the Big 12. Weeeee….!

It was 1984. Billy Bates scored Texas' "winning" run and came back to Beaumont in 1986 playing for the AA El Paso Diablos. KFDM TV 6 had a story on him and the screwing in Austin, so I videotaped it. About 2003 I digitized that videotape, et voila:

Wow, I've never seen that. That was an egregiously bad call. Dude was out by a mile.

I just took a look at Lamar's roster, and it is virtually made up of juniors and seniors. I think that I saw five or less underclass men, so if there was a good time to leave, this was it.

I can't believe people are questioning leaving Lamar for a Big 12 school in a one of the best recruiting areas for baseball in the country. And I'm sure UH told him we need an answer now or we're moving on

So far, it's just me, but at a quick glance, Davis had more "Houston area" players on his roster at Lamar than UH had on its roster. Again, that was at a glance. I could be proven wrong.

I would suspect that he needs this move to set up a return to Baton Rouge in the years ahead.

Lamar alum here…It's just part of the deal.. We know no one will be with us long term if they have big success… We lost Billy Tubbs to OU and Pat Foster to the University of Houston in when our basketball teams were really strong…no one can blame them for moving on to big time programs. Just enjoy the present and thank them for making us competitive!

It's Hofferth. He was a LL coach Spindletop when I played but for another team. Was Al Caldwell calling the game? I remember him doing Lamar basketball games back in the day.

I'm four years ahead of you. Beaumont used to be a good place to be from; not so much nowadays.

Just the other day, I was thinking about Al and the morning show on KLVI. Hofferth's voice is unforgettable.

Did you happen to look deeper at their roster? 36 of the 43 players on their roster are transfers who will generally be juniors or seniors.

Whomever they hire for their next coach will almost certainly fill their roster with transfers again.
