Pretty much a perfect opening for USC. I know Edwards is already hot and pitched an inning, but if USC plates a few more here I think you have to pull him right? Ask the Tuesday guys to find 21 outs with a 10 spot?
Looked like section 203 were the only ones doing ball 5 when they showed it.

I would. Could bring him back Monday lined up to win the regional if you survive that far. Probably around the 4th if the score holds or gets worse.
You have to at least consider it. None of us know how he handles short rest, but the staff should know. I also don't know enough about their other pitchers to know if they can piece this thing together without too much danger.

Good news for all of us -- two innings in a row the Trojans have threatened and not gotten it done with 5 LOB. That means we get to see more Edwards in this game and less Edwards later in the tournament.

Lamar has been outscored by a combined 14-0 in their last 8 innings, 7-0 by Texas A&M in the last 5 innings, and the 7-0 by USC in the first 3 innings.
Will Lamar be able to get 27 outs?

It's kind of sobering to remember that our pitchers gave 13 runs a couple of weeks ago. In one inning.
Hopefully the committee learns after this year to stop giving southern Miss so much love. I knew when they gave them a 9 seed that that was absolute garbage

One of several issues with RPI - not having a true SOS component, over-adjusting for home/road, and not adjusting for Tues vs weekend series. Literally all of the other common metrics are better (KPI, DSR, ELO, ISR, etc).

Oh well, the longer he pitches the better chance we don't have to see him (we may be at that point now).
Real head scratcher for sure. 5 or 7 run lead I get it. My number was 10-12. He's currently at 68 pitches and counting B5 - basically toast for the regional.

Never pull a college pitcher who is getting outs.
He might be hitting the wall. Up to almost 80 pitches. Giving up hits and runs.
Nice to see Lamar putting up some offense.

Maybe that's the difference between mild Southern Cal and PNW versus the heat and humidity of Texas. He's been 105-115 in nearly every start this year.
Now up to 85 pitched with four runs in and the bases loaded. We can probably stop worrying about Edwards.

Based on his coach's interview I doubt we see him. He seemed to have an eye on not risking his health for his professional career.
Only 4 Ks versus Lamar is wild. Dude AVERAGED over 2 K's per inning over 80 innings this year.
Good point. Hopefully they play a long game in the heat and we beat Tx State tonight. Wear them out.
