He didn't when he guaranteed a 4 year deal worth a boatload of money to an unproven coach. I get why he made the hire but the contract makes me scratch my head if he had the schools best interest in mind

It's been discussed too often here what it takes to hire and keep assistants and a short guarantee attracts or keeps neither.

I am okay with the contract. Anything less and Earley never would have had a chance in recruiting. Once you make the decision, give the guy a chance to succeed. I would have done the same. And even gotten more hate pms than I have about this, that's okay.

Personally i'm still 50/50 on Earley. I can see both sides of the arguments to keep him versus fire.
I'm definitely in the "wait and see" mode with the new Pitching hire.

But for the others with pitchforks, the overarching sentiment is that we're either committed to winning championships, or we're not....and if we're truly committed, then why waste time with a coach that's still on training wheels? And still trying to figure out how best to manage a team that should absolutely be a perennial top 10 caliber ball club?

2. You know you don't. But at the same time, top tier programs don't hire experiments either. We did it just to hold the prior year's team together, and that decision is 100% fair to question of our decision makers. It's also fair to assume he's on a short leash because of it.

3. Yeah, Elko went 7-5 his first season. But he at least had some HC experience, he was widely viewed as having a VERY high ceiling, and he absolutely did NOT inherit the Natty runner-up team (quite the contrary). And he didn't enter that first season as the #1 team in the country either.

All too happy to spend other people's money, though.

I was impressed with the way they moved around pitching. Kelly might or might not have had a ton to do with that but we had a nice stretch of feeling good Sat-Sun and then anything we scraped together Friday was keeping us in the hunt. And then starting Freshcorn in the last game was pretty cool. Shame he couldn't go the distance but watching him dealing was a lot of fun.

I appreciate you, appreciating and giving respect to a coach that has absolutely earned Year 3 to coach as one of the youngest in D1.

Early is SERIOUSLY killing it right now in the portal and what an INSANELY good hire with Enright.

Earley has an amazing opportunity to be here for a very long time. I am not asking for a natty next year. Just continued improvement and ideally a run into Omaha.

All the haters are fair weather fans regardless. Same folks who were hating on Elko. Turn on their school at any moment. Too sip like. Shameful.

I hope Earley understands how to build a team built for Omaha. Power is necessary for the main parts of season but speed, on base percentage, hitting for average, and pitching is what will get it done in the post season. I like OU speedster at top of lineup. Pressure from the start

As someone who has followed baseball since the early 2000s, the energy of the program right now is as bland and dry as I can remember. Itll take a lot for Early to overcome the egg the team laid last year against mizzou when I brought my family down to watch us roll over dead.

My assumption is we are going all in on paying players and trying to see how little we can invest in coaching and get away with it. Kids and early are all just collecting checks. Swing by the parent section sometime, they aren't wearing Aggie gear. They are wearing maroon gear with their kids name on the hat, front of the shirt, back of the shirt, all for the bucks, not the team.

Tell me where we were ranked at the beginning of the year vs how we finished up. Tell me what our post season success looked liked compared to last year. It's one thing to be be critical and not like the coach which is understandable. But there is also a level of pragmatism that should be involved in the conversation.

Coach Earley still has a lot to prove to remain the head coach at A&M. If you are going to use as a measuring stick how we improved from last year, you must also recognize that the previous year the bar was extremely lowered from 2023. Getting us back to the CWS this year would have been a notable and positive. Hosting a regional was nice but winning a regional regardless of hosting or not, more impressive.

Coach Earley has had two years now to get Head Coach growing pains out of the way. The goal next year will be getting to the CWS. Anything less than that will have us all talking about regime change. Pitching and hitting must improve. More depth and strategy is needed for pitching; hitting stats for the season were good, but clutch hitting in the playoffs needs improvement. Just win cures all evil.
