Hopefully he has spent the past few weeks actively recruiting the best Texas players and commits to join him in Aggieland.

In all seriousness though this is a great hire. Only downside is that he will probably be a head coach soon. He will make our program better in the meantime though.

I would REALLY like to know what brought him back. My only guess is either a money or a "tired of Schloss"

Other thing is how many of tu's class will we take

Not saying you're wrong - but I think he could have easily been a head coach by now including when we hired Earley. It's possible he doesn't want to be a Head Coach or at least not at this point in his life/career.

At least he'll spend his final years as an assistant coach here and not there. Now time to go take some of their recruits.

I've told y'all. He's about money not loyalty. As long as we remember that, all's good.

And this was the rumor out of Austin that people that was gonna be Lil pecker

Any odds Cain brings Cozart with him? Believe he was coming here before schlossing up and going there.

Why limit it to hitters? Let's take some of the pitchers, too.

I suspect Weiner still has some draw with pitchers. But if Enright is our pitching whisperer then all best are off.

I think it makes Schloss look bad or at least give people pause about what's going on there.

Doesn't he have young kids? May have been a case where we made him a great offer and having his kids go back to their original school was too good to pass up.

Also Schloss seems like a pain to work under. He's been with him for 5 years now, that's probably the lifespan of an assistant under him.

I could easily see a family motivated return to college station. Especially with what's been going on in Austin recently.

It's kind of insane just how long he's been an assistant. I don't know how long we will have him but we gotta abuse the fact we have him now lol

This would also be a pipe dream but I bet Cain was Pack's primary recruiter.

If anything, those guys' agents are salivating at floating this possibility to the Texas brass to get even heftier raises then they already would've gotten.

ummm a few thoughts....

1. this guy dragged us when he was here AND when he left.
2. He could have had any head coach job he wanted.
3. Why would he come back here for 1 year unless he was made promises? earley has 1 year left on contract and i havent heard any talk of an extension.
4. Who coaches third?
5. What does Cain tell recruits after the last 3 years of going back and forth? "Yeah I said this but i didnt mean it. its all good now" . sweet credibility and way to build relationships. Speaking of Recruiting... does anyone remember burner phones and recruiting for Texas while at A&M? Raise your hand.
6. How well are we going to do recruiting, with a coach with 1 year left on contract?
7. There are only 3 scenario's here.
A. He reached out because unhappy at Texas. - no chance in hell because he would just take the UH job.
B. Trev hired him a long time ago in anticipation of Earley having a bad year. - So; 12 months from now we look dumb for not keeping Earley if he has a good year. or we look dumb for not getting rid of him fast enough. This screams we have no faith in Mike. So then the talk will be why didnt we get rid of him earlier (when we hired nolan cain)?
C. Earley is about to take another job. Probably a AAA hitting coach or an illinois/indiana school (i forget where he is from) that gives him more stability while his kids grow up. The uncertainty about leaving after next year vs him choosing where to go now is probably easier to manage. Recruiting will be tough and how motivated would you be knowing there is no confidence in you from your admin.

IMO...C is the only answer that makes sense. Cain should not be coaching under Earley. He knows it and Earley knows it. Schloss said it many times. "Cain will be an SEC head coach soon and he isnt going to take any job."

Good luck Coach Earley!!

There's about a 0.1% chance of it being Option C.

Yeah the hottest up and comer name in college baseball that could have almost any job he wanted, thought it was a good idea to take a lateral move (or some would say a step down) to be associate hc to a coach on a 1 year contract that should probably be coaching under him.

Make it make sense.

You are way over thinking this.

Schloss is a A hole Narcissist for Starters.
CS is much better place for typical college coaches than Austin.

It's this simple.

Bc he does not want to be a head coach. Does not want to live in Houston. Could be either. Pat Henry said CS is a special place.
