The Colorado Dept of Public Health has put out a bulletin asking visitors of Pitkin, Summit, Eagle, and Gunnison counties to minimize social contact even if you don't have symptoms.

Basically if you have skied in Colorado in the past week to 10 days then there is a decent chance you have been exposed.

We just walked in the door from Crested Butte. There was 2 cases in Gunnison (30 miles away) on Tuesday, now they say 6. Half the parking lot was Texans. Son had a headache yesterday on drive home, but has been fine today. Wife says she doesn't feel well, but we were in the car 18 hours last 2 days, so who knows.

kids school is closed, so we are staying home this week anyway. Guess I will work from home tomorrow and see if anything changes with anyone.

We got back for CB on Wednesday, there was a nurse practitioner in CB proper that has had it for several weeks. https://kdvr.com/news/coronavirus/colorado-coronavirus-patient-speaks-out-shares-her-symptoms-and-story/ I think there are going to be a lot of Texas cases coming from the ski towns. We opted out of a birthday dinner tonight out of an abundance of caution and going to work from home for a while.

I just got a text from an analyst that works for me that he was exposed last week to someone that tested positive. That positive case got back from aspen two weeks ago. I guess there will be several more cases coming from the ski resorts. If you have friends that recently got back, best to probably steer clear.

A buddy invited me to go last weekend... I was pissed that I had to work, now I'm feeling pretty good about that decision.

Got back from Beaver Creek on Saturday. Kids have already gone back to College Station... they both have part time jobs that haven't shut down yet.

My company just issued WFH guidance today, so I'll be basically at home.

Damn it. My daughter, my dad, and I came home Friday. Skied both Vail and BC last week. We have stayed home, but my husband and stepkids didn't travel with us and now we've possibly exposed them too. I'm more worried about my dad though.

From a Denver resident, they are really focusing hard on people that have been in Eagle (Vail/BC), Summit (Keystone, Breck), Gunnison (Crested Butte) and Pitkin (Aspen/Snowmass) counties in the last two weeks.

If you or someone you know has been there in that timeframe, be careful please. Public health dept here describes "extensive spread" in the mountain towns.

This is an "you have probably been exposed and avoid everyone bulletin", But they then advise visitors to return home and quarantine there? Such as "go ahead and jump on a plane back to wherever you cane from!"

You didn't quote the rest of my post...got home March 6. Was there March 1 which was 15 days ago...symptoms should show by now.

I'll say 1000% more people have been affected by altitude sickness than Coronavirus in Summit County.

Eagle County resident here. Most everything is shutting down here - restaurants, movie theater, bars, etc. Schools are closed for 3.5 weeks. Pretty much everyone is expecting a lockdown this week.

Summit County officials on Sunday asked residents not to leave the county unless absolutely necessary. Gov. Jared Polis already has advised people outside mountain resort counties not to enter those areas if possible.

No-go recommendations are voluntary but county officials "are having very in-depth conversations with local law enforcement," assistant Summit County manager Sarah Vaine said.

"People are being cooperative and compliant," she said. "At this point, there is no plan to have checkpoints. This has been a recommendation from the governor's office, not an order. We are asking people to do their best. More information will come out of the governor's office in the days to come."

Avon/West Vail - No symptoms here - Not sure what to think: part of me thinks it's getting way overblown and part of me thinks I don't know what to think.

To me it is clear that in this stage in the game it's about proactively protecting those at risk. Will 99.9% of non-smokers under 50 shrug this off with little to no symptoms? Probably. I personally don't see a problem staying at home if my job allows it, and limiting commutes to the market/pharm, child care, and gas stations. I view this small inconvenience as OK, when it comes to giving other's in a worse spot than I am a better chance to get through this.

Vail/Aspen/Telluride are closed.

Quote:

Vail Resorts said it would shut down its 34 resorts for at least one week before reassessing while Alterra is closing its 15 until further notice. The Telluride Ski Resort in Colorado and the Aspen Skiing Company announced Saturday night that they will close ski operations, too.

The closures marked a sudden change of course after the majority of the country's resorts vowed earlier Saturday to stay open during the crisis while taking measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
Vail's resorts include Vail, Keystone and Breckenridge in Colorado; Park City Mountain Resort in Utah; Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood in the Lake Tahoe area of California and Nevada; Stowe Mountain in Vermont; and Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia, Canada.

Alterra's include Steamboat and Winter Park in Colorado; Squaw Valley, Mammoth and Big Bear Mountain in California; Crystal Mountain in Washington; Stratton and Sugarbush in Vermont; and Deer Valley and Solitude in Utah.

Vail Resort CEO Rob Katz apologized in a news release for the short notice and especially to guests already at the resorts or planning to come this week. He acknowledged it may seem confusing considering earlier announcements.

Do you even live here? No you don't - you're coming off very similar to most other denverites: you know how to solve everyone else's problems but your own and somehow seem to know more about what's going on up here than the people that live here grew up here and have been saying this **** was way worse than it was way before Denver decided to chip in a give it's 3 cents.

I know you are a resident. Just simply on a vector basis, the resort towns have been places that people have been flocking TO up until Polis shut the resorts down. Those travelers came from all over and congregated in the same places, taking gloves off to eat/drink/use the restroom on the mountain and in restaurants and hotels.

If the warnings/articles are correct, and given the long incubation period and testing delays, we may see a spike coming in positive cases in the 4 listed counties and among visitors that have since traveled back home.

If mountain healthcare facilities aren't ready for this and it comes as noted, then that is something to be concerned about, and not just for the mountain towns as that will trickle into other areas as well.

I'd be very interested to see what you guys start hearing in the next few days from public officials. Stay safe up there.

These are the types of comments that I have never heard from public health officials. That's all I meant by the scary comment. Probably a poor choice of words. Concerning would be a better word.

You guys worry about yourselves - you got the most cases in the state anyways - time to stop spreading a false narrative.

Can you clarify what exactly the false narrative is?

Notice my post qualified a lot of things as "if this is true". I wasn't making stuff up - that came from CO health officials.

Now isn't the time for silo Mountain vs. Denver thinking. Take that stuff elsewhere. We can have a logical and rational discussion without devolving into traditional thinking.

Nobody (at least not me) is trying to tell anyone what to do.

People aren't going to the hospitals - DO THESE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THIBGS KNOW THE VALLEY? NO

We don't go to hospitals or doctors unless it's doctors on call or mountain medical - **** most of us don't even carry health insurance - we get sick we get injured - we get through it - we sack up - deal with it and move on - we don't lay around pissing *****ing crying watching tv letting people scare us ****less when we're surrounded by whinnie the Pooh levels of wood in every side - yes - people coming here likely had it - doesn't mean the locals caught it doesn't mean some didn't either - I'm sure they did- what I'm saying is we aren't Denver we aren't Dallas or Miami or LC - were a community of white privilege that's not usually here for more than 10 days a year, wealthy Hispanics, and what I'll loving call Valley trash. I'm Valley trash. My friends are all local Valley trash - with that said - were different - always have been and will be - we don't hang out with tourists and those in f&b that do - wash hands wear gloves etc.

It's different around here and that's what I'm saying people don't catch - you can't push things here like you may other places - it's not like most places. So, anyone saying our hospitals etc are going to be crushed - knows nothing about how things operate around here - JP was our congressman but Denver seems to have changed him.

Im just relaying a locals thoughts - us high country folks are more like the albino in deliverance than we are Burt Reynolds - people will get sick - no doubt but they won't be at hospitals - they can't afford it and won't go - they will be laid out like death on the floor or couch or whatever they rent - you think you're going to the hospital when you're so poor you rent a room with 3 other people - a room not a house - Yao poor that you rent a couch - live in your van - or better yet live BK where and float? **** no and if you tell me different, I know you're not from here - why ain't people asking the people from here what to do to make things work better? They never have and never will

The false narrative is polis and others telling people at every turn and press conference that it's us and aspen and warning against coming here and conveniently forgetting everywhere else in the state / that's bull**** - Denver has the most cases. It's sad they focus on us. We were first since then we haven't had the most cases Denver has so why keep focused on us? Why? Makes no sense other than not wanting Denver to piss it's leg worrying. Its smoke and mirrors and people around here don't seem to know why were being made out to be the whipping post.
