Since my last thread about a national shutdown and quarantine was dismissed as conspiracy theory drivel/ hearsay and subsequently deleted by staff, check out this article in the Washington Times where Dr. Fauci is recommending a two week shut down directly to the Trump administration and read between the lines. Not sure why it's so hard to believe that it could happen. Go look at pictures of the streets of paris, madrid, and Italy right now online and consider how that could happen here.

It would be a great way to stop the virus. Would have to weigh the second order consequences on economy (esp. small businesses). Also probably going to be difficult to enforce.

You can't shut down life and community and commerce. A hard stop is a blue screen of death. It all stops. Everything you are working on just stops.

I don't see how this could happen. I know it goes against our nature to say people might be expendable, but we need life to go on for everyone else.

2 weeks won't be enough to stop the spread of the virus.

Can you describe what exactly "it" is? A lot of you guys claiming full on lockdown are going to be doing victory laps when they close down public places and bars and restaurants and claiming you called it, so I'd like some of you to specify what this national enforced quarantine will look like before the goal posts are moved.

National Lockdown doesn't make sense, until we can test at every single international port of entry.
It would also make more sense to do lockdowns regionally.

I'm not going to be doing victory laps. I'm not happy about this ****, but the fact people aren't taking it seriously and are looking at it like it's some kind of conspiracy is pretty irritating.

Restaurants are going to be shut down other than deliveries, retail is going to be shut down other than deliveries (if not further), offices will probably stay open, but will be strongly encouraged to have employees work remote if possible. Things are going to slow down substantially. It's already happening in parts of this country and more substantially in other parts of the world.

The national guard isn't going to be deployed to force you to stay home, but a lot of things aren't going to be open.

I expect by weeks end my life will consist of waking up, walking to my computer, logging in and working for 12+ hours and then logging out and eating a meal or two throughout the day. I hope I'm wrong, and I hope that if I am wrong it's because it wasn't necessary.

I'm not cheering, but you should recognize what's happening.

Recognizing and calling out bull**** misinformation (as identified by the national security council of all things) is not taking things seriously? Seriously?

I'm taking this very seriously. I just think it is a disservice when people insinuate full on lockdowns are coming (or you can't leave your house) and overplay the reality of the likely courses of action. It is the kind of fear mongering that leads to panic and panic does not lead to people following the guidelines set forward - it leads to people doing selfish and stupid things.

OP other post was a massive fake text saying trump was about to use something he used 3 days ago. It was misinformation and fear mongering at its peak. That is NOT taking this seriously.

This is a long way from saying "a shutdown is imminent and in the works" which is what your last post said. Please stop trying to create more panic. Thanks.

Maybe the fact that widespread testing will happen this week, leading to widespead postives and panic.

I'm not freaking out, I'm just telling you that they're coming. Just because there are false statements that they're in effect right now doesn't mean they're not coming. Whether the impetus of those shutdowns are federal or local, they're going to be here.

And that response wasn't based upon that one post, there's a sentiment that spreads through here that this is a overblown non-sense. Hopefully it turns out to not be a big deal, but governments are taking it very seriously.

The Washington Times article sounds rather different from what Fauci said on Face the Nation.
