Little League is now advising to delay the season until May 11. I'm no medical expert, but it seems a little extreme to make that call this early.

Our select ball season is postponed until April 1, but they've told everyone they will re-evaluate in the next few weeks. There's a very good chance we will play in late May or not at all.

Trump said today if we do a great job, we are looking at July/August to get back to normal. This is going to be the norm for a while. I'm guessing we have no Spring sports at all.

Man if we do not play baseball until July, and my guess is we will not, my kid is going to explode.
I don’t say this in a braggedocious way. But it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.

Time to read, pick up an instrument, video games, etc.

My son is 8 and reads at a 5th grade level, he has not a single musical bone in his body, and can already kick my ass in Madden.

That is a fantastic idea.

I enjoy tennis too. Used to play it when I was a kid on this old court at the park. Wooden rackets too.

Thanks for the idea.

True. And I live about 400 yards from a boat ramp. Unfortunately so far the weather in central Texas has not cooperated. But the boat is already hitched to the Pathfinder. We are just waiting on weather.

I am on the board at the Little League in Lumberton. They just announced our schools are closing until April 3. We are suspending our League until April 4. I hope we can play then. My son has been working his butt off this off-season for his 12 yr old year.

My son is only 8, but baseball is life for him. He has no idea what to do with himself right now.

We are Texas Teenage, and I think we are probably planning to do the same thing. When school is back we will be back. But I think school will be out for longer than April 4

Oak Hill already suspended the season until April 5. Austin ISD canceled school through then, so hopefully that'll be the end of it.

For his 11th birthday I was going to take my middle son to Six Flags at the end of the month, but that's not happening now.

I guess we will be able to get that camping trip in now.

We are the same. My son has LL and travel ball plus flag football and piano. All cancelled. He's going to go insane.

I was raised in a baseball family so I totally understand. My dad pitched on the 88/89 teams. You could look into private lessons. I would think that trainers could use the money right now and more than likely they have the time to train. 3-4 people together shouldn't be an issue...unless that changes like in the Bay Area.

I am on the board of a PONY baseball league. Right now their recommendation is April 5, but I imagine that will change now.

We ended up with a bunch of Pony League baseballs two years ago. I live in Bell Co(Temple/Belton/Killeen) and we do not have any Pony or Little League. Our kid ball is Texas Teenage. We just use Official League branded balls except in District and State.

Anyway the local Academy had like five dozen Pony League branded Diamond and Rawlings baseballs they couldnt sell. The finally at the end of the year marked them down to $24 a dozen and we bought all of them. We used them in games during our fall league which is run by the local association. They still pop up from time to time in the buckets, but the logos are getting hard to read.

Yea I know. Random story. But I got nothing else to do.

My son toils professionally and of course his season is shut down (the minor league guys are dubious they will even have a season this year). He is no different then your 8 year old. Yesterday this 55 year old woman spent an hour in the cage soft tossing to him. I loved it, it was a flash back to when he was the 8 year old you are describing. Being in the Bay Area, I suspect he and I will be spending lots of time in the cage together.

If I can order wood, not of the baseball bat type, I think we will make some raised beds and tackle home improvement projects just to stay busy. Enjoy the extra time with your kids, trust me, it goes fast.
