Back-ordered till June. Caught on camera and 2 perps in custody. But - too late. They sold them all to public already. Disastrous.
jackasses. That is an impactful crime. When we healthcare providers get sick, what then.Marcus Aurelius said:

we've had one positive outpatient case, borderline o2 requirement,Marcus Aurelius said:
IDK about you - but CDC guidelines are grey re how long to wear one N-95. We are currently using them for 12 hrs then disposing. But - if you have no more? Currently 12 COVID isolated pts but none confirmed + yest.
I would think so. My wife and I were at a hospital in Austin at 5 AM on Monday morning and there was plenty of security.pasquale said:

Why are mask ineffective outside of a medical setting?
Disclaimer: I don't own any masks - just curious.
At this point, it should be considered war-time crime.Highway6 said:
Call the local news. Have them do the story and make an appeal for the public to donate any they might have stashed.
Those thieves should be shot.
Is there anyway to sterilize them for reuse? Spray alcohol, UV, anything like that? I know something like that would not be CDC approved, but in a pinch there has to be a way to make something like those masks more than one time use in emergency situationsMarcus Aurelius said:

once they get wet they are done. I think keeping it one for the shift, assuming you don't touch the front of the mask, makes the most sense. Not that that's easy to do.Tabasco said:Is there anyway to sterilize them for reuse? Spray alcohol, UV, anything like that? Stockpiling Supplies for the Next Influenza Pandemic; 2009 study
interesting to look at "Table 5. Formulas, prioritization, and example calculations of supplies for a 1918-like influenza pandemic" which calculates/estimates how many N95 respirators, ventilators etc. Really interesting study and a brilliant idea if something like this happens. I assume the government never followed through with the prep/stockpile idea?
They talked about that some:PJYoung said:Tabasco said:

I'm pretty sure that stuff expires which would add a ton to the cost.
Good luck trying to get the government to keep paying for something that's not needed immediately year after year.

Many items purchased for the cache had expiration dates. Although most items had multiple-year shelf lives, some shelf lives were as short as 1 year. The variability of manufacturer-ascribed expiration dates and other reasons for supply rotation led to the recognition that the cache would become a dynamic component of medical system supplies. Items would need to be inspected regularly and rotated through the storage facility on a regular basis. To meet this need, a human resource commitment of 1 full-time employee equivalent would be necessary for logistics management of the inventory. Duties of this person would include inspecting the inventory, assisting with incoming and outgoing deliveries, rotating items into the routinely used supplies of the medical system to ensure use before expiration, and prodding physical security for the inventory. This person would also be charged with developing and maintaining a plan for transportation and deployment of the inventory in the event of a pandemic. In addition, each medical facility would also be required to provide an employee to help manage the inventory and who would report to the cache in the event of a pandemic.
