forget the fact that the president nor congress have the authority to do this, but i think right answer is do enough not to overwhelm the medical system vs total shut down which will be complete devastation of the economy.

we can't keep people from being infected, everyone eventually will be, over time, we just don't want the health care overwhelmed to keep fatality rates at the minimum.. there is a inflection point on shut down and impact on spread vs damage to economy. total shutdown is way to the right of the spectrum

The live ticker as he is talking about Hilton stock was kind of amazing to me.

He says something like every hotel stock is going to zero over the next 18 months if we don't shut down because no business can survive zero revenue, and I have a large position in Hilton and it drops to 50 and then he says but we have been aggressively buying stocks, including Hilton because I believe we are going to shut down long enough to beat this and it immediately ticks up $3.

They took off the White House briefing just as it was getting started to put this guy on for over 20 minutes. It was crazy.

He is fairly optimistic that by shutting down 90+% of worker's travel that we can shut down the virus. I would love to see the models for that.

You don't think the govt has the authority to declare martial law and keep you in your home? Think again. The Cali governor floated this scenario out just today.

San Antonio just shut down all "non-essential" commercial businesses, whatever that means. I assume it means storefronts, so retail establishments primarily, and doesn't extend to other types of workplaces.

Restaurants can still deliver or do curbside pickup.

The mayor also strongly encouraged people to stay home after 10:00 pm, although he said he was not imposing a curfew.

Does the virus pick up steam after dark? I'm genuinely curious why this is even mentioned.

Maybe I'm a cynic, but I think he is easing us towards the possibility of a lockdown situation. Not sure why, though, since we only have 11 confirmed cases at the moment.

Kill the bar scene, less chance for spreading.

I just assumed bars fell under the "Non-essential" moniker.

Searched for 'curfew' and this thread came up. Cameron County Judge laying out that he is 'likely' going to implement a curfew countywide starting tomorrow....

Are any other areas under curfew? Serious question; the changes are coming so fast I have a hard time keeping up with what's here, there, or everywhere.
