There really is a difference but some peole don't get it.

To follow best practices I am NOT getting out in public. My daugher met me outside the lobby of the appartmetn complex (55 plus) to give me some things she had shopped for me. On my way back in not only did one lady keep getting closer as I was trying to keep six feet, she shared that after managament left for the night (all amenity areas are officially closed with signage but some are not desinged where they can be locked, six of her friends came down and they had a birthady party for her including pizza and drinks. All it takes is one person here and they are apt to put the entire complex in quarantine. I need to be able to walk my hound. I need fresh air. I don't need emotionally to spend two weeks locked in cleaning up pee and poop.

It boggles my mind how some people (and these are the gerneation older than the boomers, but not the greatest generation whatever we call them) have so little regard for the others that live here that they could be so careless.

Arlington has a fairly large number of cases so it is not liek we are in a community with no know commuinty issues.

FWIW, I believe even shelter in place allows for dog walking.

[EDIT - I realize now you are talking about a true quarantine. Don't know what happens with dogs then.]

But quarantine does not. These ladies are putting all of us who live at the facility of being in quarantine.

Aren't the current instructions to have no more than 10 in a gathering?

They were in a community area of an apartment building that is supposedly closed. I understand there were fewer than ten, but I am angry that they even took the risk. This is why the current level in Tarrant county is not going to work.

Are you sure that quarantine requires you to stay inside?

This type of idiotic behavior is why we end up have to go stricter than otherwise necessary to stop these things. I've got a buddy that called me from the gym middle of last week. Very large gym in the area that he mentioned with his time working from home he wanted to get one last workout in before they closed the place for the shut down. i find out several days later, that at that very same moment his wife and 2 of his 3 kids were at home with moderate but definitive covid-19 symptoms that had been going on for 5 days at that point... his wife nearly went to the ER 2 days after he was at the gym b/c her breathing and cough got so bad. Basically, even smart people behave like idiots so the gov ends up stepping in and taking judgment out of the equation.

The Masonic home that is in quarantine is having everyone stay in rooms or apartments with no one outside and no face to face contact.

Ok. But as far as a city or county restriction?

If this worries you, maybe you can arrange for a family member to take your dog IF you have to quarantine. Heartbreaking, but just in case. That way it isn't an extra worry.

I do wonder how much more at risk regular apartment complexes are, especially those that don't have a "breezeway" floor setup.

Is there really that much risk of the virus lingering in the air in those breezeways, or as long as someone is keeping their hands off the handrails and not walking by their neighbors that it's relatively safe?

my mom came to drop off some lunchables she bought for my son "because she was missing him
" and when I told her she couldnt give him a hug, she looked like she was on the verge of tears. I dont want her to get anything from him nor visa versa (she is 65 and overweight).

It hurts, but you have to protect yourself and your loved ones the best you can, especially since my mom has not really been taking this seriuously. she's still watching my older brothers daughter, doing home visits for her GSP rescue organization, etc.

I cant wait for this to be over. I was on a conference call, so I couldnt explain...

This is a stacked complex. Looks like a hotel from the outside. Two eleveators and four stairwells.

Yeah, I imagine that would be a lot different. Stay as safe as you can, and don't be afraid to shame those who think they are above the rules that everyone from the top is saying are necessary!

So are we defining quarantine as you can leave your residence at all? Even to go to the store?

I don't believe this is happening anywhere in the US except that case in KY with a guy who tested positive but refuses to self quarantine.

If sick or definitely exposed you shouldn't be going to the store.

If possible you should have delivery or people shop for you.

Shelter in place is different. You can leave the house for necessities and go outside for walks.

3G and others in apartments with several stories and inside hallways are in a difficult situation.

What worries me are the corona walkers and bicyclists.

I suppose that these people are bored and want to get out or they are making a last ditch effort to improve their health. Regardless, you can tell that these people have not been exercising in at least a decade but now you have groups of people biking, walking together or out walking their dogs for the first time in who knows how long.

Of course these new bicyclists are always on the sidewalks. The dog walkers have no control over their dogs with 15 foot leashes and the families like to spread out as wide as possible. It's irritating as can be but these exercise newbies certainly are not mindful of the 6 feet of separation either.

Right there with ya. People 5 wide walking on the sidewalk, oblivious to everything around them. Twice in last 2 weeks someone's dog has gotten away from owner and run up on our dog, causing the owner to have to come over and essentially be within inches of us to reclaim it.

I love seeing more people outside, but you can tell a lot of them have never "outsided" before.
