Can someone tell me exactly what shelter in place means?

I very much desire to comply with the law, but I have no idea what the rules are.

I have a customer (I build custom homes) who is set to move in to their new house end of this week. It was going to be a photo finish but we were going to make that deadline for sure. The house is "substantially complete"; meaning all systems are functioning but the house is not complete.

Do we keep pushing through Thursday/friday & get them complete, or do we just give them the keys and have them live in a partially complete home for who knows how long?

I read the Dallas SIP order & residential construction is "exempted", so im leaning towards just getting them moved in & then shutting things down.

I am truly torn here on how to proceed

Normally it means something like a train has derailed and there's a fume in your area so stay the hell inside your house.

For this it probably means do your best to stay home. But if you can provide someone with a safe, and sanitary home, that would be pretty cool.

I think it is going to depend on whether your business is defined as "essential" for your area.

I have not heard in any place that has put a SiP ruling out that home builders are or are not essential. Maybe call your county judge's office to find out? Mayor's office? There must be an information number for your area that they put out when they put the order in place.
You'll have to read the details of the ruling. The Dallas County ruling states that construction (commercial and residential) is on the list of essential businesses.

Do right by your clients and your trades. To hell with these jackass politicians.

Gravel is just running along licking at Eckharts ass and she is prepping her run for Watson's seat.

Neither give a damn about you or anyone else in their respective counties.

From what I have been told the order is going to be modeled after Dallas. I reviewed that order and residential amd commercial construction is considered essential services which are exempt. Not 100% sure how moving falls into that, but I would imagine that would be an exception as an overall part of the construction process.

I build customs in Central Texas (based out of Pflugerville) as well and my rule of thumb is that as long as trades are going so am I.

At the same time I'm also minimizing my time in the field and keeping clean.

Like I was trying to say on another thread, we all realize some construction is essential. But does that mean each should be operating at full capacity. Particularly office staff?

No, the majority of the office, if not all of us should and can get the same job done from home. Luckily it seems my company is catching on to this and getting us set up as quickly as they can to work from home. Hopefully that's tomorrow. While construction is "essential", it is not essential for us to all be here right now.

Heck, my honest opinion is even if this wasn't during coronavirus, I could do 75% of my job from home but I digress
