For the recombination mentioned in the article to have occurred, two divergent viruses must have infected the same organism simultaneously.

  • Which organism and when?
  • Under natural or laboratory conditions?

supposedly it went from Bat to some weird cat-like animal in a chinese wet market. They stack all the animals in cages and all kinds of bodily fluids just flows down from one cage to the next.

Until I read this I thought it was natural and on JRE the guy said it is 100% natural since we do not have the creativity to create something like this. Well we did in 2015 and UNC works closely with the Chinese on infectious diseases. But I am not in the medical field and have not able to provide evidence on this one either way.

UNC created coronavirus in 2015 from bats

Macabre euphemism 'wet market'...I wonder if anyone has or will consider tagging them as valid military targets.

There is an increasing body of reputable scientific study ruling out genetic engineering and labeling this as a natural phenomona.

And as is becoming more and more public, the US national security and intelligence apparatus has been looking at this thing for several months. While the intelligence community doesn't know close to everything, certain alarms would have sounded if there was legitimate belief China had, even just accidentally, unleashed what would essentially be a biological weapon on the world's economy and health.

Absolutely no way that would happen, and no one's mind should be going there.

And wet markets are found all over the world. They're just much more common and often on a much larger scale in Asia, they've been poorly regulated in certain places, and their hygienic practices are equally poor in certain places.

China has aggressively cracked down on them and the endangered species trade over the past couple of months. Time will only tell if those policies stick long term.

China did ban eating wild animals but lets see what comes of that. Its a cultural thing.

China is responsible for so much wildlife damage be it ivory, shark fins, etc. that if this thing could curve their damage by 10% we would see a huge jump in wildlife populations.

We may never know the truth if this was lab created, coming out and saying it was 100% man made by China would likely incite violence in the US and/or the world against Asians. I too have read that a lot of this is coming from nature but in the back of my mind there is always an if, and reading several of the experts saying we could not create this and a PubMed article about it makes me question. China has lied from the beginning saying this could not be spread by human contact, when it happened, the numbers, etc. so believing them is hard to do now.

they found SARS originated in civet cats, suspected to have leapt to humans in wet market conditions, as i recall.

lots of talk then about bans and food restrictions on wild animals, but they didn't stick. hope like hell that changes this time.

We're from North California, and South Alabam
and little towns all around this land...

Not trying to be argumentative here...but if someone wanted to mask a biological attack all they have to do is release a plausible virus from one of these God awful hellscapes. Theyre incubators for a new dark age or even possible human (near) extinction.

What happens when one of these viruses has the transmissibility of Wuhan virus with the lethality of ebola?

Seems like a pretty air tight case to me. At least seal their borders from the outside to prevent catastrophe

If this thing was designed, we'd probably never know (at least not for decades) because they would bury it. Too much money and trade at stake to let it go public.
Life's an endless party, not a punch card.

You'd have to have strong ("pretty air tight") evidence they're actually releasing it and its not already spread outside so to even begin thinking you can get around Geneva 52 or other various provisions of international law.

Practices in many Asian countries have remained unchanged over the past centuries (millennia possibly) in addition to attitudes regarding animals in general. They're ignorant, antiquated, barbaric, and dangerous. Their attitudes regarding animal life of any sort is apathetic at best. Treatment of other humans isn't much better in many cases.

The thing is that the truth doesn't matter because people choose to believe what they want regardless of truth.

It happens naturally all the time. No laboratory is necessary.

I'm in the bioweapon wagon. Yes it seemingly has origins from natural coronavirus strains from multiple animals.. It's easy to blame the wet markets, while dismissing or underestimating the CCP's disdain and flippancy it treats its own people with regularly. It's especially easy to believe an essentially dictatorship in China would take any opportunity for plausible deniability in a possible scheme like this, by blaming it on the wet market(s). Can it be definitely proven to be a bioweapon? Not yet, but one thing I know for sure is that China has not been nor will ever be forthcoming with their information surrounding COVID-19. And I'm sure as heck not ruling out this bioweapon possibility due to the country of origin in question, and their surrounding and alarming circumstances regarding the virus. Just one resource raising some alarming questions / redflags:

https://www.theepochtimes.com/is-the-coronavirus-a-bioweapon_3231180.html

A bit more fringe, but still raises questions that do not have definitive answers:

https://www.neonrevolt.com/2020/03/25/these-people-are-sick-qanon-confirms-coronavirus-as-a-chinese-bioweapon-greatawakening-neonrevolt/
Why would they spend the time and effort to make a bioweapon with such limited utility? A bioweapon would need to quickly take out large number of troops, not to take a small number out here and there. This makes no sense as a bioweapon.

If they are making bioweapons, then they would far more likely be using things with substantially higher mortality such as anthrax, plague, tularemia, smallpox, ebola, or Marburg.

No animal could possibly catch two illnesses at the same time! Especially not one treated to such humane conditions as being kept in stacks of cages filled with other sick and diseased animals!

Could it be a natural occurring virus that was being studied in a lab, and escaped? Seems that would satisfy both sides.
