For those in the construction industry, this may prove to be a useful document that outlines the status of construction in various states. Sounds like it will be updated as thing change. The last update was Wednesday, 3/25 @ 5pm CST.

They need to update it with New Yorks change today. Construction is no longer considered essential. Still allowing for it on infrastructure and transportation projects, as well as emergency repairs, hospital building and affordable housing.

I know of one project for roads and sidewalks in north Texas that's actually being sped up by Corona. Instead of being broken up over 8 months, they've shut down the street/intersection to complete it in 4 weeks

This is great news. Get out there and build while the world is locked down at home. Hopefully labor, suppliers and equipment dealers can keep up with demand as the SIP orders continue to tighten.

The issue we are starting to see is lenders and equity partners backing off on new capital and projects. The virus will ultimately lead to a slow-down in the construction industry, I believe. We have projects on going that aren't affected, but we probably won't be getting any new ones for a while, at least until this starts to turn around.

Public bids are already getting postponed and projects are getting delayed if not canceled.

Contractors need to be reviewing their open contracts and discussing the time extension and delay damage sections with their attorneys. Extra attention should be given to these areas with any new contracts signed going forward.

I'm a chief estimator for a large construction company that specializes in healthcare and higher education/research. We are not seeing a slow down and all of our projects are a go and considered essential. We will see if that continues.

There's a dam gate project we were about to go down to Lampasas for and it was just put on indefinite delay today.
