Nice I will get one. There's no way there's 50,000 residents with symptoms so I would assume they also want to test for asymptomatic residents.

I am not a Hays county resident but would love to buy some of these.

This is almost certainly a serologic test for antibodies to the virus. It will likely turn positive several days after the patient is infected depending on how quickly someone mounts an immune response. Testing too soon will increase the risk of a false negative. It really should not be advertised as a diagnostic test. It is better for helping determine who has hopefully developed immunity in the minimally to asymptomatic group.

This thing just screams scam to me. The judge is relying on a group called "Covid Task Force". Their website is http://covidtaskforce.org/. If you look at the founder and their "Team", many have some sort of financial interest in MD Box and these test kits. Funny how this task force and the MD Box leadership team is very similar. So how many of these people stand to benefit from the sales of the kits that they are promoting to the judge and ultimately the citizens? How much did we as county citizens pay for these tests?

The founder of the "Covid Task Force" who is advising Judge Becerra is Kyle Hayungs. This guy has no medical background and claims to earn $50k/month in passive income through his payment processing company. Quick google search on the guy and my scam meter goes through the roof. Call me skeptical but this all sounds fishy to me.....

Yep it is sketchy. At the same time tgis came out Judge Beccera is announcing he has 2000 kits to be in the front lines. His wife works in Pharmaceutical.

It's being addressed now in commissioners court.

Becerra was always a slimy dude. Even the most moderate Democrats in Hays County hate him.

I do not understand how this is even legal? The test kits have not been approved by FDA. It is one thing for a random company to offer and people buy on their own. A whole other for a government entity to purchase and offer to their constituents.

The judge stated on his Facebook page that he has so far purchased 2,000 kits. It is a huge waste of money and likely creates a big liability for the county. I am curious how no other health professional at the moment will rely on these tests, but our County just bought them and is using them as if they are ok?

It is also interesting that the company immediately came out and said HEB would be selling them. HEB said that is not true and asked MD Box to retract statement.

This stuff pisses me off. These people are milking our county for profits and likely putting people in danger in the process.
