Weird food you are eating during quarantine?

What food are you or people in your family eating that you didn't eat before quarantine.

For us we are eating pimento cheese and pop tarts. Neither were in our house before. We are also baking and BBQing almost everyday.

Not to be a jerk, just trying to clarify. Do you mean "grilling"? BBQ is a style of cooking that is low heat over a long period of time plus smoke. This video explains it. Just trying to understand.

Ok cool guy.

I have slow cooked pork ribs, beef ribs, a whole chicken and pork loin on my barrel pit. I have also grilled burgers, chicken breast and salmon over charcoal. And just for you I have also grilled hot dogs, sausage and veggies over a gas grill.

Anything we find in the cabinet so we don't have to go to the store.

We made an expired gingerbread mix. Awesome!

Cleaning out the freezer right now. Will last us 2 months.

Also eating a crap ton if nachos for some reason. Just chips with cheese in the microwave and using all the hot sauces I have collected and never ate

Doctor gave me a strict order to reduce cholesterol levels. A large % of my protein is coming from beyond meat products and vegan protein powder. My only animal protein is coming from an occasional frozen sockeye salmon filets (however I couldn't resist chick fil a drive thru last night)

Started baking breads and making my own pizza. It's been fun. Lots of baking & cooking on the bge.

Not sure if you a microwave popcorn person but if you buy bulk kernels you can pop them in a brown paper bag then add your own melted butter/salt afterwards. Much better tasting than the pre-bagged stuff, IMO, and one of those jars of kernels lasts much longer.

At the beginning of the apocalypse I looked at the frozen boxed food aisle at HEB and it was mostly sold out besides these frozen breaded SPAM patties. I needed something to throw in the freezer and it had a dollar off coupon next to it so I said screw it why not.

Turns out they're actually pretty damn good, tastes like a low quality breaded pork chop but for the $2 I paid it was worth it. I usually go for a run in the morning and then eat a spinach and cheese omelette but if I feel the need for some extra food I'll fry one of them in a pan with some olive oil. Didn't know they existed at the beginning of March, but I'll probably continue to buy them every so often even when things go back to normal.

Just fold the top down a couple times. Every now and then you get a rogue kernel that pops out but no big deal. We eat a lot of popcorn and have tried all sorts of machines and such. Brown lunch sack in the microwave is our favorite method.

My freezer is stocked with about 200lbs of axis and whitetail meat. So that has been our primary protein source. Mostly just buying vegetables and baking goods from HEB every 5-7 days. We've made a few whataburger and chik fil a runs to mix things up, as well.

That pimiento cheese with jalapeo from Costco is the bomb.com.

We've eaten more Asian than usual. Bulgogi last night, pad Thai a few nights ago.

Also have more pork in a fridge/freezer than I can ever remember. Mainly a beef family. Then lamb. Then chicken. Then if we have to pork.

At first it was easier to get hamburger meat at the stores by me than chicken so I ended up buying a can of sloppy Joe sauce to go with it. Turns out my kids love sloppy joes. We never really ate them before this.

Had a sweet potato and apple hash spiced with a little red wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar, honey, and thyme topped with over easy fried eggs the other night. Best brinner ever.

Also made a pizza with a spicy cilantro cream sauce, grilled chicken, chopped cilantro, Monterey jack cheese, and a dash of lime and sour cream after it was baked.

Good thing I shot my 2 deer for the year last November. Freezer is full of protein.
