The City of Austin says masks are required when using public transportation or ride shares, pumping gas and while outside when six feet of physical distancing cannot be consistently maintained.
I agree. I think Abbott will announce an opening of business for end of April but will require face coverings in public.Complete Idiot said:
I agree. I think this is getting us ready for what a Return to "normal" activities will entail.
Don't know the answer, but it sounds like if you take a walk around the block with your wife, and you're closer than 6 ', there could be trouble if no mask is on.deddog said:So we are clear, this is not outside all of the time- doesn't seem unreasonable.Quote:

But pumping gas?? What did i miss?
Well, can't open restaurants again. That's 100% out.Lemmys Rickenbacker said:I agree. I think Abbott will announce an opening of business for end of April but will require face coverings in public.Complete Idiot said:

Crowded islands can force several people well within 6 feet. They have to point out common tasks that a lot of people do daily but normally wouldn't think about wearing a mask.deddog said:So we are clear, this is not outside all of the time- doesn't seem unreasonable.Quote:

Wouldn't gloves be more important than a mask pumping gas?beerad12man said:
So it's a little confusing. If I'm pumping gas but no one is within 6 feet of me, do I need to wear one?
Sorry, but when I saw Los Angeles roll this out yesterday, I knew Austin would be next in short order. Little brother.ETFan said:
We really are going to have issues reopening the economy if such benign mandates cause so much anger.

Unless you don't have one there isn't a downside to wearing a mask at this point. The more everyone plays along the faster this **** will be over with.

Is it wrong that the May 8th date has made me incredibly sad? I don't care about the masks but the city & county are definitely in the "let's keep this going as long as possible camp". I'm just drained.

I'm glad that I live in Lakeway.SoupNazi2001 said:

Will they enforce this for all the homeless people? Without being able to see their teeth, how will you be able to tell them apart from a tu student?

I've been watching the Washington model and taking screenshots to compare. The state of Texas model on April 10th had an April 13th forecast increasing to around 35 deaths per day with a forecasted peak of 66 daily deaths on April 24th and total deaths of 2042 by August 4th. NOW.... after 3 additional days of data with only 28,11, & 17 deaths, the model has been revised, moving the peak day out to April 30th with peak of 71 deaths per day and a total of 2704 by August 4th.
So the better we do now, the worst it gets! Plus multiple national headlines saying "Texas hasn't seen the worst yet!"
